One of the most recognizable names in Hollywood, and the rest of the world has confirmed that she uses a completely different identity in her personal life.
The actress we think of fondly as Margot Robbie has confirmed, a decade after her wedding, that she has adopted her husband’s name for business purposes.
Margot, 36, adopted her British husband, film producer Tom Ackerley’s name according to official documents.
According to new documents published this week by Companies House, the UK's official public register of companies, the Wuthering Heights star is now legally Margot Elise Ackerley.
The couple met in 2013 on the set of war romance film Suite Français, in which she played a supporting character, and he was the assistant director. Shortly after, five members of the crew, including Margot and Tom, moved into a London house share, where their friendship would begin to morph into romance.
Four of the former housemates, Margot, Tom, Sophia Kerr, and Josey McNamara, then went on to form a production company, LuckyChap, which later produced box-office hits including I, Tonya.
In December 2016, Margot and Tom married in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, but remained living in their house share until the following year, when the newlyweds moved to LA in 2017. Eight years later, the pair welcomed a baby boy in October 2024.
The pair have continued to work together, collaborating on Barbie and Wuthering Heights.
Margot claimed that at the time she met Tom, she was not looking for a relationship, but eventually she caved for his charm and good looks. She told Vogue in 2016: "I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit.
"And then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, 'Oh, he would never love me back. Don't make it weird, Margot. Don't be stupid and tell him that you like him.'"
She added: "And then it happened, and I was like, 'Of course we're together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.'"
