The news shocked many across the world as tributes have been laid to honor the 31-year-old One Direction star.

Following his death, friends and colleagues have also shared personal stories about Liam, including Kelsey Parker.

Kelsey, who lost her husband to brain cancer in March 2022, shared her heartfelt memories of Liam during a recent episode of Mum’s the Word, the podcast she co-hosts with Georgia Jones, wife of McFly's Danny Jones.

Kelsey recalled Liams kindness and support during her husband’s illness, explaining how the former One Direction star reached out after learning of Tom Parker’s diagnosis.

“When Tom got sick, it really resonated with Liam and he obviously reached out and was really there for Tom,” she said.

Liam even performed at a benefit show for Tom Parker, an act of generosity that Kelsey says meant a great deal to her late husband.

"Then when Tom passed, Liam came to Tom's funeral... Do you know when you think [of] someone, 'You're a good soul,' like, did he not? He didn't need to come to Tom's funeral. He felt that he needed to be there," Kelsey added.

Even after the funeral, Liam continued to offer his support, regularly checking in with Kelsey.

“He always used to reach out to me. He'd be like, 'Kels, I can see that you're doing so well.' He always checked in,” she revealed.

Members of The Wanted also expressed their grief following Liam’s sudden passing, per PEOPLE.

During a concert held the day after Liam's death, band member Max George addressed the crowd, saying: “Yesterday, we found out the tragic news about someone that we knew personally — Liam Payne— and yeah, it’s obviously shockingly heartbreaking. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him, his friends, family, and fans all over the world."

George, who had worked closely with Liam on a charity event, continued: “Liam [was] really, really supportive when Tom fell ill.

We did a thing called Stand Up to Cancer. He was the first person, the first artist to put his hand up and say that he wanted to perform [at the event], which we’ll never forget."
