A Home Depot worker in North Carolina has sadly died after being pushed by a shoplifter he was attempting to confront.
Gary Rasor, 83, was captured on surveillance footage attempting to stop the man who was fleeing the store with three pressure washers in a shopping cart on October 18, per the New York Post.
The shoplifter appeared to forcefully shove Rasor away, resulting in the then 82-year-old crashing into a sign, with his head appearing to hit a plant pot.
The brave Home Depot worker was then rushed to a North Carolina hospital, where he made plans to see his new grandchild for the first time, as well as celebrated his 83rd birthday, his wife told CBS.
Tragically, Hillsborough Police have announced that Rasor passed away due to complications from his injuries on Thursday, December 1.
The police went on to say that the North Carolina medical examiner has ruled the death a homicide, and the perpetrator has yet to be found.
The report details the wanted man: "The suspect, a black man about 6 feet tall, fled the scene in a white, four-door, Hyundai Sonata with an obscured North Carolina temporary tag."
Rasor's son, Jeff Rasor, also said to CBS: "It’s just beyond our comprehension that someone would do this for a couple of power washers. That is just mind-boggling."
His wife had spoken to the outlet before he sadly died, saying that her husband remained upbeat, however, he became angry once he saw footage of the attack.
"It’s just hard, and I know it sounds silly, but I’m still waiting for him to come back home," she said. "I can’t get him back … that’s it."
As reported by the Daily Mail, the 83-year-old had worked at the store for nine years and had plans to retire and do some traveling. He was left unable to walk and suffered a mild heart attack after the incident.
His widow, Yovone Rasor, said that the couple had bought plane tickets with the intent to see more family around the holiday season after he had recovered from his injuries.
Police are appealing for anybody with any information about the attacker and his whereabouts to come forward.
Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

An elderly woman has been showered with praise after confronting an alleged masked shoplifter while shopping at Walmart.
The incident took place on Saturday at the Campbell River Walmart in British Columbia, and saw 73-year-old grandmother Elaine Gallaway stand up to a man accused of attempting to steal goods.
In the video, the man is first seen wearing a balaclava and attempting to wheel a shopping cart full of products out of the store's exit. However, he is first confronted by Darrell Johansen, who recorded the incident unfold.
Johansen can be heard asking the man: "You gonna pay for that?" But the man ignores Johansen and continues to try and leave the store with the items.
However, the alleged shoplifter doesn't get far - as he is approached by Gallaway, who blocks his exit with her own cart.
Check out more on this story in the video below:Speaking to Global News on Monday, Gallaway said she first spotted the man shoving "roasts of beef in a backpack". After paying for her shopping, she decided to confront the alleged shoplifter.
Galloway continued: "Then he ran into me and I said to him, "You coward, show your face to the camera.'"
She says she told the man: "I'm fed up with this bull****! Get out! You just jack up the price for everybody else."
At one point in the video, she even rips the man's balaclava off.
After being confronted, the alleged shoplifter can be seen attempting to pull the cart out of the store, but is prevented from doing so by Galloway.
Cst. Maury Tyre with the Campell River Royal Canadian Mounted Police has since told CHEK that although it can be frustrating to see shoplifters, he does not recommend members of the public taking it upon themselves to intervene.
Tyre added that some incidents in the past have been escalated with increased violence and shoplifters arming themselves with weapons or bear spray.
Security expert Sean Smith told CHEK that Walmart is a common target for shoplifters, but added that Gallaway "did what everyone else wanted to do" and her actions have made her very popular.
In fact, all across social media, people have fallen in love with Galloway, with some branding her a "hero". Although, she does admit that she doesn't recommend following her actions and acknowledged that the man could have been armed.
The Daily Mail adds that no arrests regarding the incident have been made as of this writing and authorities said an investigation is still ongoing.

A 63-year-old worker who passed away in the public bathroom of a South Carolina department store was not found until four days after she had passed away.
According to a report by Fox 29, store cleaner Bessie Durham was found dead on Monday (September 19) in the Belk department store at the Columbiana Center. Her cleaning cart was outside the restroom where she was discovered.
Durham - who worked for outside company KBS contracted to clean the Belk store - was last seen on Thursday at work. Her family filed a missing person report shortly before investigators came across her body.
Columbia Deputy Police Chief Melron Kelly told WIS-TV that authorities are currently working with the Belk store to further investigate Durham's cause of death.
Surveillance camera footage shows her entering the restroom at 7:00AM on Thursday (September 15) but not coming out. The next that was seen of Durham was when her body was found around 8:00PM Monday.
Columbiana Center's Belk store was open as usual during the four days that Durham was missing.
Meanwhile, The Lexington County Coroner's Office has reported that there are no signs that the cleaner was killed or died due to the influence of drugs. An autopsy is scheduled to take place later today (Thursday, September 22) to determine her cause of death.
"We're still working with the store to find out what their process is to closing down the store, inspecting the store and things of that nature," Columbia Deputy Police Chief Kelly said, per Fox 29.
Representatives for Belk have since expressed their "deepest condolences" to Durham's family and explained that they are working with KBS to understand the details surrounding her death.
"First and foremost, we send our deepest condolences to the family of the housekeeping associate who was employed by KBS, which provides cleaning services at our Columbiana Centre location. At this time, we are working with KBS to determine the details around what happened," the store said in a statement to WIS-TV.
They went on to explain that mental health support has been made available to employees: "We have also made counselors available to Belk and KBS associates seeking support."

A clerk in a gas station messaged her friends fearing for her safety while she was working the night shift, and she tragically lost her life an hour later.
Tava Woodard, 23, began her shift at Roadrunner Market in Johnson City, Tenn, at around midnight after being dropped off by her friend, as reported by PEOPLE.
The shift on June 2 got off to an unnerving start as the store was hit by petty shoplifters and she texted her mom and friends that she felt unsafe and wanted to find a new job.
Shortly after, two men entered the store and demanded to have the money from the cash register. Woodard complied with their demands, but then the men allegedly proceeded to murder her.
Her mother Melissa Jones, 45, spoke to PEOPLE, saying: "From what I’m hearing none of them [the staff] were feeling very safe - this is all over the place so I’ll go ahead and say it. All of her coworkers have stated that the panic button under the counter wasn’t working - and wasn’t even hooked up."
Authorities revealed that a father and son were arrested on Tuesday in connection with her death, after entering the store "covered head to toe" and ultimately murdering the 23-year-old.
"I won’t get into specifics, but the police have told me that she was very calm, very composed and that they were amazed at hearing how old she was and how well she maintained her composure and calmness," Jones added.
Woodard had turned 23 just a week before she was killed, and following her death the community in the Appalachian mountains have rushed to support the family.
Jones said: "I’ve gotten so many messages and phone calls from people that cared about her, that talk about how wonderful she was and what a bright light she was for them."
She revealed that her daughter "always had a smile on her face" and that she was a comforting presence to be around.
Woodard was an outspoken activist for human rights and was highly supportive of her brother who has Asperger's Syndrome, always ensuring that he was safe at school and at home.
As reported by WJHL, Johnson City Police Chief Billy Church said: "In my almost 30 years of law enforcement experience, this case is one of the most heartbreaking that I’ve come across."
The accused killers have been named by Washington County Sheriff as 41-year-old Mark Anthony Sexton Jr and his 18-year-old son Mark Anthony Sexton III.
Both men were charged with first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery while the father had driving an unregistered vehicle added onto his charges, and the 18-year-old had possible firearm commission of dangerous felony and tampering with evidence added on.
Following Woodard's death, a GoFundMe page has been set up in order to support her family and the funeral costs, which is set to take place on June 10.
Out of the intended $100,000 goal, $34,300 has been raised by 658 donors as people have flocked to offer their support following the devastating ordeal.
Our thoughts are with Woodard's family at this time.

A grocery store cashier has been shot dead and three others have been left injured when a customer opened fire after being told to wear a face mask.
The incident took place at a Georgia supermarket on Monday, June 14, just after 1 PM, according to local reports cited by Indy100, when a cashier at Big Bear supermarket asked the customer to "please pull up his mask."
"There was some confrontation, argument [...] in reference to the wearing of masks, at which time the subject pulled out a weapon and shot the cashier," DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox said in a statement.
Watch a news report about the incident below:The suspect has now been identified as 30-year-old Victor Lee Tucker, Jr. who went on to leave the store without making his purchase.
He returned immediately, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), and "walked directly back to the cashier, pulled out a handgun and shot her."
The GBI said in a press release that the victim, whose identity has not yet been made public, was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital, where Tucker was later transported in a stable condition.
The sheriff said that shots were exchanged between the suspect and a reserve deputy who worked as a part-time security guard in the supermarket.
According to People, the deputy "was attempting to intervene while working off-duty at the supermarket," officials said.
CNN reports that the reserve deputy joined the reserve unit after serving for 30 years in the force.
The deputy was struck twice by gunfire, Maddox revealed, but he was wearing a bulletproof vest and later transported to a nearby health center for treatment.
Tucker was arrested as he attempted to flee the scene through the front door, and Indy100 reports that he and the injured deputy are in stable condition.
The GBI revealed that another cashier was shot, and she was treated for her injury at the scene.
An independent investigation is now being conducted into the incident, the agency has revealed, and CNN reports that it is also being investigated by DeKalb County Police.
