A mom was left furious after her daughter's legs were duct-taped by teachers at school because she wore ripped jeans.

The mother took to TikTok to vent her frustrations, posting a short 24-second video of her asking a staff member at the school whether it was appropriate to put tape on her daughter's skin, to which the staff member replied that it was "school policy",  The Sun detailed.

"Am I overreacting, or am I justified in being p***ed off that the school thought it was acceptable to put duct tape on my childs skin? I feel the school should've called me if they needed her to change her pants [sic]," her video caption began.

"We have never had an issue with a dress code before. The cheerleader uniforms are shorter than this. She was humiliated and had to hide it by tying her coat around the front of her. My daughter has eczema & sensitive skin and if she didn't text us, she would've sat all day with duct tape irritating her legs," she added.

The video has so far received millions of views and over 16,000 comments, and many users were equally as frustrated at the situation. "Dress code or not, you call the parents and tell them to bring a change of clothes. You don't put tape on someone's child," someone wrote.

Another user added: "The issue isn't wether or not she was in dress code, it's that they put duct tape on her w/o giving her the choice to call home for new clothes instead [sic]."

"All of us with adhesive allergies are horrified," someone else chimed in.

Not everyone agreed, however, with some people arguing that the mom should have been aware of the school's dress code. "Uhhhh are arent those types of pants usually not ok? Back at my school they either called your parents for pants or gave you some sweatpants," one user commented.

Someone else added: "Maybe it's me that doesn’t see it as a big deal. It's just tape. I was dress coded enough in school to know that they probably offered her sweats."

"Honest question, How many parents actually read the handbook sent and sign to return back to school? It does state the dress codes etc," another comment read.

In a later TikTok, Shanah revealed that she had scoured the dress code again and discovered that ripped jeans are not in breach of the rules, as well as the fact that duct-taping a child's legs is not one of the listed punishments.
