Nancy Pelosi slammed for handing out souvenir pens to sign impeachment articles
Nancy Pelosi has been slammed online for handing out "souvenir" pens to sign President Donald Trump's impeachment articles.
She brought the pens to the historic impeachment on Wednesday and they were all adorned with her name. After signing the resolution, two articles of impeachment against President Trump were transmitted to the Senate for trial.
Pelosi signs Trump's impeachment:
The celebratory implications of the pens did not go unnoticed on social media, where Pelosi was slammed.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham wrote on Twitter: "Nancy Pelosi's souvenir pens served up on silver platters to sign the sham articles of impeachment... She was so somber as she gave them away to people like prizes."
"You know what you hand out pens for? Accomplishments. Like, say, signing a historic trade deal with China," Republican National Committee spokeswoman Elizabeth Harrington added.
In the video below, world leaders gossip about Donald Trump:
Harrington then slammed the democrats by saying that their only accomplishment was impeachment.
At this point, it's worth noting that Trump signed a landmark trade agreement with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He in the East Room of the White House on the same day as Pelosi's impeachment signing.
"So it's fitting that Democrats are handing out pens for their sole accomplishment: impeachment. Democrats have done NOTHING for the American people," Harrington added, going on to tweet: "Nancy Pelosi passed out pens for the Democrats' sole accomplishment: trying to take away Americans' votes"
Trump has described the efforts to impeach him as a "hoax" because they are predominately based on the accusation that he offered military assistance to Russia in exchange for an investigation into his former political rival, Vice President Joe Biden, and his son, Hunter.
Two trays of pens were laid out prior to the signing on Wednesday. After signing the document with one of the pens, she proceeded to hand them out to the other lawmakers, with Fox News reporting that she was occasionally smiling.
Mark Simone, a conservative radio host, tweeted: "Embarrassing spectacle - Pelosi using sterling silver platters and handing out ceremonial pens to everyone in sight, made it ridiculously theatrical and so tacky and clownish. What goofballs."
Benny Johnson, the chief creative officer for Turning Point USA, wrote: "Impeachment is so 'Prayerful' that Pelosi was handing out pens in celebration. Pathetic."
However, as per Fox News, Pelosi denied accusations that she hates Trump and said that she actually prays for him.
