Paul Pogba has become the latest soccer star to remove a beverage at a Euro 2020 press conference after Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly started a "movement".

Pogba, a devout Muslim, decided to make his views known by moving a Heineken beer bottle away from himself as he spoke to the media after France's victorious game over Germany.

Heineken is a sponsor of the event, but all alcohol is  "haraam" or forbidden for Muslims.

Pogba's actions come after Ronaldo sensationally removed the Coke bottles in front of him at a Euro 2020 press conference and shouted "Agua!", which is Portuguese for water.

The athlete, 36, has previously made his low opinion of soft drinks and snacks open when he discussed whether or not his son would follow in his sporting footsteps.

Per Metro, he said at the Global Soccer Awards ceremony: "We'll see if my son will become a great footballer. Sometimes he drinks Coca-cola and eats crisps and it irritates me, he knows that.

"Sometimes I tell my son to take a dip in cold water to recover after a run on the treadmill and he says, 'Dad, it's so cold there'. That's fine, he is only 10 years old."

Ronaldo's actions had a knock-on effect on Coca-Cola, who have sponsored the Euro 2020 event, and The Athletic reports that before the event, the share price of Coca-Cola was $43.21 each, but afterward, it dropped to $42.52, which is a 1.6 percent decrease in value.

While this might seem like a small drop in the price of Coca-Cola, overall, it equates to over $4 billion.

Coca-Cola went on to release a statement about the incident, stating that "everyone is entitled to their drink preferences" as we all have different "tastes and needs."

A spokesperson for the company added: "Players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences."

Ronaldo has also made an impact on the pitch at the Euro 2020 event, and he became the top scorer in the history of the European Championship after scoring two goals in Portugal's opening game against Hungary.
