Police have spoken out after completing the search for 70 bodies after a woman claimed her father was a serial killer and that she was forced to help him bury the victims.

Lucy Studey McKiddy, 53, claimed that her father, Donald Studey, was a serial killer and had buried over 70 victims - mainly women - in Thurman, Iowa, as reported by the Mirror.

McKiddy claimed that her father would "smash his victims' head in" whilst drunk, and then get her to help dispose of the evidence.

Studey died in 2013 at the age of 75, but if the claims are true, it would make him one of the most prolific serial killers in US history.

Police began testing soil in the area and cadaver dogs alerted them to suspected human remains in the area that McKiddy claimed was where the bodies were buried, per Newsweek.

Part of the property was excavated in 2007 but nothing was found at the time. Fifteen vehicles from the FBI, Fremont County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation began searching again this week.

On Thursday (December 8), law enforcement confirmed that no evidence was found on the property, per Fox News.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation released a statement: "Over the past three days, state, local, and federal law enforcement assisted with an investigation in Fremont County."

"Authorities brought in an array of experts representing several disciplines and significant assets to excavate, collect and examine soil samples from a site identified by a reporting party. After exhaustive efforts, no evidence or other items of concern were recovered," the statement concluded.

Prior to the investigation, Susan Studey - McKiddy's sister and daughter of the alleged killer - challenged her sister's claims. She told Newsweek: "My father was not the man she [McKiddy] makes him out to be. He was strict, but he was a protective parent who loved his children.

"Strict fathers don't just turn into serial killers... I'm two years older than Lucy. I think I would know if my father murdered. I would know if my dad was a serial killer. He was not, and I want my father's name restored."
