Following the tragic attack in a Sydney shopping center which left six people dead, the city has seen another stabbing take place where a bishop and worshippers have been left injured just days later.

A bishop and three worshippers were attacked at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, Sydney's west.

The attack unfolded on Monday evening, plunging the community into chaos and prompting a swift response from law enforcement, per Sky News.

Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was delivering a sermon when a man, wearing a dark hoodie, approached the altar and allegedly stabbed him multiple times.

Horrifying footage captured the moment as the assailant launched vicious blows at the bishop, leaving him and several others injured.

The incident, streamed live on the church's YouTube page, stunned viewers as Bishop Emmanuel looked on in astonishment while worshippers rushed to his aid. NSW Ambulance confirmed that four people, including Father Isaac Royel, were injured and transported to the hospital.

Despite the chaos, a statement from the church reassured the public that both Bishop Emmanuel and Father Isaac were in stable condition, urging prayers for their recovery and even for the perpetrator.

Outside the church, unrest erupted as hundreds gathered in protest, venting their anger by hurling bottles and bricks at a police barrier, and chanting: "an eye for an eye" and "bring him out."

Riot police were deployed to contain the escalating tensions, with tear gas used to disperse the crowd and ensure the safety of officers.

Anita, a local resident, recounted her harrowing experience at the scene, describing how she became a victim of the chaos when a projectile struck her. She expressed disbelief at the attack, highlighting Bishop Emmanuel's kindness and community efforts over the years, per the Daily Mail.

This incident comes days after another tragic event in Westfield Bondi Junction, where six people lost their lives to a knifeman. Joel Cauchi's stabbing spree left a community reeling in grief, further amplifying concerns over public safety.

Amidst the turmoil, NSW Police have assured the public that Bishop Emmanuel's injuries are non-life threatening and that a suspect is in custody, cooperating with authorities.

As investigations unfold, the community remains on edge, grappling with the aftermath of yet another senseless act of violence.

Bishop Emmanuel, known for his active presence on social media, boasts a significant following, while Christ The Good Shepherd Church commands a substantial online presence with nearly 200,000 subscribers on YouTube.
