Crook - who is perhaps best known for his roles in the UK version of The Office and the Pirates of the Caribbean move franchise - has made several public appeals in an effort to find his missing sister-in-law.

Earlier this week, the actor appeared on Good Morning Britain to plead for help in the devastating disappearance and disclosed that his family is "clutching at straws" one week on.

"It's a week now, it was this time last Tuesday that she left the house with nothing but the clothes she was wearing, no keys, money, phone, and she’s not been seen since," he said. "I’m here at Slindon cricket ground which was the last positive sighting we had of her and that was a week ago, since then, nothing."

"She was diagnosed with cancer last year and she missed her fifth chemo session last Tuesday and we think that’s what has triggered some sort of crisis in her and she’s gone off for a long walk somewhere… we are really clutching at straws now after a week," he added.

The presenters asked The Detectorists star if there are any "clues or hunches" as to where Aldridge might be and Crook replied that the family had been scouring "so many wooded areas" in the last two days that it had become "overwhelming".

Aldridge's family were "hopeful" that she may have taken refuge in a "back garden, shed, or outhouse", and asked people in the local area to check their backyards.

Watch Crook's Good Morning Britain interview:

Aldridge's son, Matthew, has described the ordeal as a "nightmare".

Her family has been informed that a body has been found.

Our thoughts are with Aldridge's family, friends, and loved ones at this time.
