With less than one year to go until the start of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, excitement is in the air and there has never been a better time to get involved in one of the greatest sporting events the nation will ever host.

From July 28th to August 8th, the West Midlands will host the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games - an event that will make history and create unforgettable memories.

Birmingham 2022 isn’t just an event you enjoy from the comfort of your home, in fact, here are five ways you can be involved in this once in a lifetime event.

The Queen’s Baton Relay

First up, Birmingham 2022 will host the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay.

This is a journey of epic proportions, and will see The Baton visit all 72 nations in the Commonwealth, reaching the six regions of Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Americas, and the Caribbean.

The impressive expedition will kick off in October 2021, after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has placed a personal message to the Commonwealth nations into the Baton.

Over the next 294 days, the Baton will reach every corner of the Commonwealth - inspiring solidarity and hope in communities across the world, as cultures come together to celebrate this unique tradition.

When the Baton returns to England next year, Birmingham 2022 will need over 2,000 Batonbearers to take on the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of carrying the Baton. And if you’d like to register your interest to be a part of this historic celebration and be notified when nominations go live, you can find more information HERE.
