Jay was reported missing on June 17, after he was seen leaving a night out with some men he had met while attending the NRG festival in Tenerife, Spain.

The last report of his whereabouts came from a friend he rang stating that “he was lost in the mountains," he was extremely thirsty and his phone was about to die.

After it did, there was no trace of Jay and a rescue mission was deployed to help locate the missing teenager.

However, on July 15, nearly a month after Jay initially went missing, human remains were located just a 20-minute walk from the last known location where his phone had pinged.

In a statement to Sky News, police said: "The mountain rescue and intervention group of the Civil Guard has located the lifeless body of a young man in the Masca area after 29 days of constant search.

"Given the complexity of the case, the discovery has been possible thanks to the incessant and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard during these 29 days, in which the natural space was preserved so that it would not be filled with curious onlookers," the statement added.

In the wake of the news, Jay's mom has released a statement speaking about plans for the 19-year-old's funeral.

Taking to his official GoFundMe page, she wrote: "Hello everyone, thank you for all of your kindness, support and condolences in light of the tragic news that Jay’s body has been found. We are overwhelmed with grief and are so grateful for your support."

She went on to state that she is "appreciative" to "the wonderful team from The Netherlands," for their support during this difficult time.

"The wonderful team from The Netherlands, Signi Zoekhondon, have remained in Spain all week and have continued to support us since Jay was found. They are due to fly home in the coming days and we are so appreciative of their dedication and support," she continued.

"We would like to thank LBT Global for their support during this impossible time," Debbie added. "We are working with agencies to arrange Jay's repatriation to the UK and the remaining funds, along with any future donations will be used to help with this if needed and to pay for Jay’s funeral costs back home."

She then added: "We want to give our boy the send-off he deserves so please do continue to share and support our fundraiser however you can," the statement concluded.

So far, the family has managed to raise approximately £66,000 ($85,000), which is set to help the family pay for the expenses.

Our thoughts are with Jay's family and friends during this difficult time.
