People are baffled by the way former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson pronounces 'ChatGPT'

We’re used to hearing strange things emerging from Boris Johnson’s mouth - but the weird way he pronounces ChatGPT has left people full-on baffled.

The ruffle-haired former Prime Minister - who was in charge of British politics between 2019 and 2022 - recently sat down for an interview with Al Arabiya English, an outlet that's described as "The Arab world's leading source of global news and opinion."

During a conversation with their editor Michael Prendergast, Johnson discussed a range of topics.

These included everything from Donald Trump's recent Gaza peace deal, the continuing chaos in Ukraine, and his thoughts on how his successor, Sir Keir Starme,r is getting on as leader of the United Kingdom.

Eventually, the conversation turned to artificial intelligence, with Johnson revealing a very unusual way of saying AI and "ChatGPT".

"I love ChatGPT," grinned Johnson. "It says I'm brilliant." Watch the full clip below:

Fans were quick to pick up on his super-fast delivery, one that makes an already tiny product name somehow sound even more minuscule.

How did people react to Boris Johnson's saying 'ChatGPT'?

Naturally, many were quick to share their thoughts on social media.

"Why does Boris Johnson pronounce ‘AI’ and ‘ChatGPT’ like this?" questioned one bemused viewer, accompanying their question with three crying face emojis.

"Every time Boris Johnson says ‘ChatGPT’ it sounds like he’s summoning a 19th-century steam engine 😭 bro makes AI sound like it runs on coal," joked another.

A third suggested Johnson pronounced AI as if it was some kind of "rare disease", with a fourth adding that it sounded a little more like "chat chippy tea". It's a valid comparison.

Someone else took aim at Johnson's love of just how much ChatGPT seems to love the former PM, calling him a "narcissistic melon".

Another cut straight to the chase, summing things up by simply stating "nobody speaks like this," while others remained dazed at the flexibility of the English way of speaking.

"Nothing comes close to the British accent," said a confused social media user.

Boris Johnson has a history of saying silly things

Of course, this is far from the first time that something weird has come out of Johnson's mouth.

Over the years, the former Mayor of London has said some wild stuff.

Remember in 2008 when he admitted just how disconnected he was to the life of regular folks by saying, "I don't know what a pint of milk costs" during a visit to Newsnight?

How about when he suggested that voting Conservative [his part] would "increase your chances of owning a BMW M3" in the lead up to his 2005 election?

Then there was the time he let us know that he "shook hands with everybody" during those confusing early days of the 2020 pandemic.

In short, this is nothing where BoJo is concerned...
