Prince Harry's ex becomes an instant meme at the royal wedding
So after months of build up, it is finally here. The world has been waiting, Britain has been at fever pitch and every single shop is selling themed products. The royal wedding. Harry and Meghan. It's finally happening, people. It. Is. Finally. Happening.
As I sit and feverishly type away, the star-studded wedding guest list is currently turning up to the big day. So far, the likes of David Beckham, Serena Williams, George Clooney, Oprah and Idris Elba have all arrived; with each one looking just as glamorous as the last. However, there was one particular person who really turned heads with her appearance: Chelsy Davy.
The majority of guests have turned up sporting suitably spring-like colours, with Amal and George Clooney wearing pale shades of yellow and Oprah being head-to-toe in pale pink. However, Chelsy Davy cut through these summer-vibes with a darkly coloured outfit and a face like thunder.
Now, for those of you who don't know, Chelsy is Harry's ex-girlfriend. The pair were embroiled in a tumultuous relationship between 2004 and 2011, with the split coming at the time of wedding between Will and Kate. Speaking to Grazia at the time of the separation, a source close to the pair said: "Even though Chelsy and Harry have very strong feelings for one another, Chelsy had to let him go. They've been together so long the next stage would be an engagement. "
It was believed that after seeing the pressure put on Kate, Chelsy thought better of marrying into the family, with the source adding: "They've discussed marriage but her mind was most definitely made up by Catherine and William's wedding, and so while she was happy to be his date on the big day, she's now told him they should see other people. "It has been really hard for both of them and it wasn't a decision they took lightly."
Another source said: "Harry is besotted with Chelsy. She is the love of his life, but Chelsy is adamant she doesn't want to lose her independence. So she had to end the relationship. Chelsy's been feeling this way for some time now, but her reluctance to commit has only seemed to make Harry keener. However, finally, he's accepted her decision."
Despite the split, Harry extended an invite to his big day to his former lover and, while she may have turned up, she didn't look too pleased to be there. In fact, she looked absolutely furious to be missing out on walking down the aisle.
In the coverage of the event, the camera stayed in Chelsy - who looked like she was in deep thought at the time. Unsurprisingly, Twitter started making the same joke:
Chelsy isn't the only ex who Harry has remained on good terms with, he's also remained close to Cressida Bonas, who he dated from 2012 - 2014.
A source told W Magazine: "Harry has stayed good friends with Chelsy and Cressida, so they will be there... He made sure there were no hard feelings when they split up. I don't think Meghan will mind."
Cressida is also thought to be attending the wedding. No doubt it will be interesting when the vicar asks if anyone knows of any lawful impediment why Harry and Meghan can't get married.
