In a statement, the Palace explained that the Queen is currently battling a chest infection, prompting her to cancel all engagements for the week.

The palace Spokesperson revealed that doctors have prescribed a short period of rest for Her Majesty, who has expressed deep regret over having to step back from her royal responsibilities.

"Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest," the spokesperson said.

"With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal."

"She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result," the spokesperson added.

As the nation looks forward to the weekend's Remembrance events, the Queen remains hopeful that she will recover in time to participate as usual, per Sky News.

Currently, it is being reported that the Queen is recuperating at home under close medical supervision.

In her stead, Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, will represent the Royal Family at the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey this Thursday.

Additionally, Queen Camilla will miss a special Buckingham Palace reception honoring Olympic and Paralympic athletes, an event now to be hosted by the King.

The Queen's recent return from a demanding overseas tour of Australia and Samoa might have taken its toll, though no specific details about her treatment or further updates on her health have been disclosed at this time.

This news comes as King Charles briefly paused his cancer treatment amid the aforementioned tour of Australia and Samoa, but is expected to continue as normal now that the Royals have returned.
