Prince Philip's full and complete styles and titles were read aloud at his funeral today - and served as a poignant reminder of his long and fruitful life.

According to the Royal funeral's official Order of Service, which was recently made public, towards the end of the service, the Garter Principal King of Arms stood and proclaimed the late Duke of Edinburgh's full styles and titles to the 30 guests attending.

The order of service shows that these were read as follows:

"Thus it hath pleased Almighty God to take out of this transitory life unto his divine mercy the late most Illustrious and most Exalted Prince Philip.

"Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich, Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

"Member of the Order of Merit, Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order upon whom had been conferred the Royal Victorian Chain.

"Grand Master and Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Lord High Admiral of the United Kingdom.

"One of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council. Admiral of the Fleet, Field Marshal in the Army, and Marshal of the Royal Air Force."

"Husband of Her Most Excellent Majesty Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories.

"Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, Sovereign of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, whom may God preserve and bless with long life, health, and honor, and all worldly happiness."

The long list ended with a focus on perhaps Prince Philip's most important and crucial role; husband to the Queen.

The late Duke himself was educated primarily in Great Britain in his youth and abandoned his Greek titles when became a British subject prior to marrying Queen Elizabeth in 1947.

Buckingham Palace first announced the news of Prince Philip's death at the age of 99 in an official statement made on the morning of April 9.

The statement in question read: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

Prince Philip is now the 25th member of royalty laid to rest in the 200-year-old crypt beneath St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
