'UK's Worst Pedophile' is stabbed to death in prison with makeshift blade
A man dubbed the "UK's Worst Pedophile" has been stabbed to death in prison while serving 22 life sentences.
Richard Huckle was murdered at Full Sutton Prison, a maximum-security facility for men located in Yorkshire, England, the BBC reported. More details have been announced since Sky News broke the story, saying that he had been found dead under "suspicious circumstances."
The 33-year-old was suspected of molesting up to 200 Malaysian children, and his death has put an end to authorities' ongoing investigation into his encrypted computer files and any potential abusers who could have been identified with their access.
Deputy Director of the National Crime Agency Andy Brennan is pictured giving a statement after Huckle was given 22 life sentences in 2016.
Huckle had worked as a freelance photographer and his crimes were alerted to authorities in 2014. He was sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in 2016 after he was convicted of 71 offenses against nearly two dozen children, which took place between 2006 and 2014.
The children in question ranged in age from six months to 12 years and were subject to rape and abuse.
He was given access to the children after he posed as a Christian schoolteacher and philanthropist.
A total of 20,000 indecent images of children were discovered on his computer by Britain's National Crime Agency, with 1,117 of these images depicting him abusing the children whose care he was charged with.
In addition to this, Huckle wrote a 60-page "How-To" guide for other pedophiles looking to offend and get away with it. He even kept a scoreboard in relation to his crimes, causing authorities to speculate that he had as many as 200 victims, even though justice was only served for 23 Malaysian children.
Huckle did not cooperate with authorities when he was charged, meaning that access to numerous encrypted files on his computer has not been gained.
