Videos of a Democratic congressional candidate in Michigan have gone viral for their explicit nature, leaving some enraged online.
Shelby Campbell, 32, is an official candidate for US Congress and has ruffled the feathers of social media users who aren't fans of her content.
She writes in her TikTok bio that she is "Fighting for Workers’ Rights, Women’s Equality, and Strong Public Schools."
Her content involved videos showing her twerking, lip-syncing and posing in front of banners that scream “p***y power.”
Campbell often makes videos responding to comments from haters, while also sharing her political views and opinions, as she looks to campaign for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District.
This includes parts of Detroit and other suburban areas.
Republican users have been quick to claim that these clips are outrageous, claiming that this is proof that "Democrats are not sending their best.”
While the candidate can be seen twerking in response to a number of hate comments, she has also found more unorthodox ways to respond to haters.
Writing on X, the Libs of TikTok account posted: “Michigan House Democrat candidate Shelby Campbell’s campaign strategy? Twerking for votes.”
There is another video where she responds to a comment calling her the c-word, where she squats over the camera in a pair of shorts, before asking: “I am a c**t. Great. But would you know a cl*t if you saw one?”
In response to another comment, which sarcastically called her ethical and classy, she posted a clip of herself twerking on a kitchen counter, saying: “I am an ethical person. I am a classy b***h, am I not?”
Campbell is a law student and a United Auto Workers union member who is running against Democrat Rep. Shri Thanedar in a crowded primary.
The more liberal side of the party hopes that Thanedar will be ousted from his post, as the wealthy pharma executive has represented the strongly Democratic district since 2021.
The first-time candidate, who is also a single mother, describes herself as a “working-class woman” and not a career politician.
Her website reads: “I’m not here to pretend I’m perfect. I’m not here to smile in your face and stab you in the back later,
“More than half of us work in service, retail, healthcare, or auto jobs. I’ve been a bartender, server, certified nursing assistant and third-generation auto worker,” she continued.
“I’ve been to jail. I’ve been judged. And I’ve gotten back up, like so many here.”
One user asked: "Is this the platform you are running on? Or is this a joke? Serious question," to which Campbell responded by saying she trolls people who troll her.
Another wrote: “Bro, this is her actual campaign strategy? Twerking in the living room for votes in 2026 Single mom energy mixed with OnlyFans audition.
"Michigan really out here picking leaders like this? Policy? Nah, just vibes and squats. The bar is in hell at this point.”
A third claimed: “Democrats are not sending their best,” while a different user claimed that this was "the most embarrassing way to try and secure a political office in modern history."
Campbell, doesn't seem bothered by the attention she's getting, instead posting that she likes the "fan videos," adding: “Omg I love you guys thank you keep the publicity going.”
