Donald Trump slammed for 'embarrassing' mistake in deleted social media post about Iran
Donald Trump has been mercilessly mocked for a Truth Social post about Iran that contained an ‘embarrassing’ mistake.
The President has since deleted the post, but not quickly enough, meaning that it’s online forever.
Donald Trump likes to shoot from the hip on social media
It’s well documented that Trump loves a rant on social media - and in real life, too.
In fact, it’s landed him in hot water before now, most recently when he was accused of being racist after sharing a video about the Obamas.
He was prolific on Twitter back when Twitter was Twitter, and even started his own Truth Social platform which now plays host to his unpunctuated, often-capitalized streams of consciousness.
If you were being balanced you’d say that never before has a President of the United States given such unfiltered and unfettered access into his thought processes and ideas.
However, there are others who suspect that there could be other factors at play.
It can also catch him out at times, as when you type angry and fast, you type badly, as he found out here.
Donald Trump’s latest Truth Social post was quickly deleted
Donald Trump’s latest post was addressing the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, which has seen both sides issuing threats and firing verbal attacks back and forth.
However, this message was actually more conciliatory, certainly by Trump’s standards.
He was actually stating that progress had been made between the two parties, with ‘good and productive conversations’ regarding a ‘complete and total resolution of [their] hostilities’.
He announced that he had ‘instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five day period’.
However, while this sounds like big news, it wasn’t exactly what some people focused on.
A lot of people noticed that the clearly hastily-typed statement contained several typos, including the sentence ‘based on the tenor and tone of these in depth, detailed, and constructive conversations WITCH will continue throughout the week…’
The original post was deleted quickly and replaced slightly later with a post that corrected all of the errors.
However, not before it was screen-capped and shared everywhere.
“Trump's making insane spelling mistakes in his latest post. Totally embarrassing,” one person wrote.
“A lot of spelling errors on that post by Trump....God forbid if his twitter is hacked some day,” said another.
A third speculated: “Look at all of the grammatical and spelling errors
“This was RUSHED in PANIC.”
Another comment read: “Let's hope this is a real Trump post
“The spelling error sure seems to confirm this.”
Still, the overwhelming news is positive, if it means that we have staved off World War Three for another few days, at least.
Let’s hope that this fragile peace develops into something more lasting and meaningful - and that Trump runs his posts about anything else through a spellchecker.
Trump's (reposted] Truth Social message in full
I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
BASED ON THE TENOR AND TONE OF THESE IN DEPTH, DETAILED, AND CONSTRUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS, WHICH WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, I HAVE INSTRUCTED THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR TO POSTPONE ANY AND ALL MILITARY STRIKES AGAINST IRANIAN POWER PLANTS AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A FIVE DAY PERIOD, SUBJECT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE ONGOING MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
