Donald Trump has taken to Twitter to tell his 88.9 million followers that a vaccine for Covid-19 is "coming fast".

The President's tweet comes a day after pharmaceutical corporations Pfizer and BioNTech announced that the final analysis of their vaccine has shown that it is 95% effective in preventing Covid-19 disease.

Writing on Twitter on Thursday (November 19), Trump, 74, wrote in all-caps: "VACCINES ARE COMING FAST!!!"

Per The Independent, Pfizer has said that the candidate has passed its full safety checks and is now ready to be presented to regulatory authorities for market approval.

Last week, Sky News reported how the firms released interim data showed that the vaccine had been tested on 43,500 people from six countries.

The initial results showed a 90% effectiveness based on the analysis of 94 infections among participants in the phase three trial.

However, the two companies have been able to provide a further and clearer verdict on the effectiveness of the vaccine after a total of 170 cases were reported.

The final efficacy analysis of the vaccine states that 95% of subjects were protected from the virus within 28 days of the first dose - with adults over 65 years old seeing a higher-than-expected 94% effective rate.

And yesterday, per Sky News, Pfizer and BioNTech say they plan to submit the Covid19 vaccine to the US regulator for emergency use approval "within days" after "no serious safety concerns" were raised.

Speaking to CNN, BioNTech CEO Dr. Ugur Sahin told said on Wednesday that the companies will file for an EUA on Friday.

However, despite the results, Trump's tweet caused a divided response on social media.

"I will not EVER get this vaccine, not EVER," one Twitter user replied.

A second added: "Anyone sick of Trump taking credit for vaccines when he refuses to believe in science?"

A third grateful Trump supporter wrote: "THANK YOU MY PRESIDENT".

But another skeptic replied: "But what if we don’t want it or trust it? It cannot be mandatory, I plead with you to prevent that from happening!"

And despite the vaccine passing safety protocols, one Twitter user replied saying: "I’ve supported you so far. But don’t expect any of us to take that poisonous garbage."

Shortly after sharing his initial tweet, Trump wrote in a follow-up post: "THE COVID DRUGS NOW AVAILABLE TO MAKE PROPLE BETTER ARE AMAZING, BUT SELDOM TALKED ABOUT BY THE MEDIA! Mortality rate is 85% down! [sic]"

Per the John Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, there have been 11,538,104 confirmed cases of the disease, and yesterday, the US surpassed 250,000 reported deaths.
