An FBI director has left viewers stunned after ending the conference with a bizarre message to Charlie Kirk.

As widely reported, Tyler Robinson, 22, a Utah local, was detained following the shooting at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, where Kirk, 31, was giving a public speech as part of his "America Comeback Tour."

President Donald Trump confirmed the suspect's capture on September 12, revealing that Robinson’s father reportedly drove him to the police station, where he was handed over to authorities.

“Somebody who was very close to him turned him in,” Trump stated, expressing his hope that Robinson would be found guilty and face the death penalty.

The suspected shooter, who had reportedly become more politically charged in recent years, had expressed negative views about Kirk, allegedly calling him “a spreader of hate” before the shooting.

During a press conference on Friday ( September 12), FBI Director Kash Patel and other officials shared that further investigation revealed disturbing inscriptions on the rifle casings recovered at the scene, including messages like “Hey, fascist! Catch!” and “Bella Ciao,” a song linked to anti-fascist movements. A third casing read, “If you read this, you are gay, LMAO.”

However, it was Patel's closing comments that left viewers puzzled. “To my friend Charlie Kirk. Rest now, brother,” he said, before adding: “We have the watch. And I'll see you in Valhalla.”

The FBI director's reference to Norse mythology, where Valhalla is the hall of fallen warriors, seemed out of place and raised eyebrows.

"Kash Patel saying: "'See you in Valhalla' is quite something," one user reacted, while another said: "'I'll see you in Valhalla'?????? Charlie Kirk was a Christian."

A third slammed: "Kash Patel should be immediately fired for publicly invoking paganism from the podium at the press conference and claiming Charlie Kirk is in 'Valhalla.' Charlie was a devout Christian, and that was incredibly out of line."

A fourth added: "Kash Patel saying 'I’ll see you in Valhalla' was f***ing incredibly tone deaf and insulting."

The loss of Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, has sent shockwaves through both the conservative community and his family, which includes his wife Erika and their two young children.

The late activist's body was flown back to Arizona on Air Force Two, with Vice President JD Vance accompanying the remains. President Trump has expressed his intention to attend Kirk’s funeral, though the date has yet to be announced.

On Thursday, September 11, the 79-year-old revealed that he had spoken with Erika, sharing: “We had a long talk, and she is devastated. She’s absolutely devastated, as you can imagine.”

As the investigation into Robinson's motivations continues, the FBI is piecing together more details about the case.
