These days, reading the news sometimes feels like watching a TV show. Kids are standing up to adults about gun control in order to become the heroes of their generation, world leaders are threatening nuclear war in a classic good-guy/bad-guy standoff sort of way, and, to top it all off, the president manages to make headlines every day for something he did, is doing, or is planning to do.
Of all the Trump stories going around, however (and, as we know, there are many), the one that seems to have stuck recently is the one concerning Stormy Daniels. The porn star claims to have had an affair with the president back in 2006, shortly after his son, Barron, was born. Not only that, though, Daniels also says that she was paid off $130,000 to keep quiet about their liaison - but, seeing as Trump failed to hold up his end of the bargain, she's now threatening to spill all.
And if that wasn't scandalous enough, another woman has come forward to say that she was also having a fling with the former businessman around the same time. And she's just given her first television interview.
Karen McDougal, a former Playboy Playmate, alleges that she "had unprotected sex dozens of times" with Trump during the course of a 10-month relationship which began in 2006.
In an interview with CNN, the 46-year-old opened up about her experiences with the former The Apprentice host, including the very first time they were together. "After we had been intimate, he tried to pay me, and I actually didn't know how to take that," she said.
"I don't even know how to describe the look on my face," she added. "It must have been so sad."
McDougal then went on to say that she turned down the money, saying, "That's not me. I'm not that kind of girl," to which he reportedly responded, "Oh... You're really special."
Despite the uncomfortable beginning, the pair went on to have a reasonably long affair - with both declaring their love for one another.
However, despite McDougal's proclamations of affection for Trump, she also admitted that she never quite felt comfortable around him.
One time, she said, she went to the home he shared with Melania, and - even though the married couple were sleeping in separate beds and clearly experiencing some marital difficulties - she felt incredibly uneasy about being there.
"I couldn't wait to get out of the apartment, I think," she said;
"Doing something, doing something wrong is bad enough, and when you're doing something wrong, and you're in the middle of somebody else's home or bed or whatever, that just puts it a little old stab in your heart, and I just couldn't wait to get out of the apartment.
"I wanted to go back to my hotel room."
She now says that she's "really sorry" for continuing the affair for so long, as she knew that Trump was married with a newborn son.
Perhaps the most disturbing detail of all, however, is the revelation that Trump compared McDougal to his daughter.
"He's very proud of Ivanka. As he should be," the former model said. "I mean, she's a brilliant woman. She's beautiful. That's his daughter, and he should be proud of her. He said I was beautiful like her."
When the pair ended their affair, Trump got McDougal to sign an agreement promising not to discuss their relationship. In return, she was given a $150,000 payout and was assured that she would be given opportunities to improve her public profile. However, she has since stated that Trump's end of the bargain was not met, and so she is speaking out about it now.
