Weinstein was transferred to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward for treatment of various health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid on his heart and lungs, per the Hollywood Reporter.

His representative and prison consultant, Craig Rothfeld, stated that these conditions continue to affect Weinstein daily.

Following his transfer, Weinstein tested positive for Covid-19 and developed double pneumonia.

"We continue to express our gratitude to the officers, doctors, and nurses at DOCS, CHS, and NYC H+H who saw to it that Mr. Weinstein was immediately transferred to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward and will continue working hand in hand with them to ensure Mr. Weinstein receives proper medical treatment," his representative said in a statement.

Weinstein was serving a 23-year sentence following his 2020 rape conviction in New York, which was overturned earlier this year.

The New York Court of Appeals reached the verdict with a narrow 4-3 decision, focusing on the contentious inclusion of witnesses who accused Weinstein of assault but were not part of the original trial proceedings.

The charges included a criminal sex act for forcibly performing oral sex on a TV and film production assistant and third-degree rape for an attack on an aspiring actress.

Despite this ruling, Weinstein remains incarcerated due to a separate 2022 conviction in Los Angeles. In that case, he was found guilty of another rape and sentenced to 16 years in prison, per AP.

Weinstein's 2020 conviction in New York was seen as a pivotal moment in the #MeToo movement, encouraging women to speak out about sexual abuse and harassment in the film and television industry.

At the time, he was sentenced for the rape of an actress, identified as Jane Doe 1, at a Beverly Hills hotel in Los Angeles in 2013.

Weinstein implored the court, saying: "Please don't sentence me to life in prison. I don't deserve it. There are so many things wrong with this case."

He continued: "There are too many loopholes. Too many things wrong with this case. This is a setup. This is not the way to act in this situation," adding, "I beg your mercy."

During the trial, the victim, an unidentified Italian actress and model, emotionally recounted her ordeal.

"Before that night, I was a very happy and confident woman. I valued myself and the relationship I had with God. I was excited about my future. Everything changed after the defendant brutally assaulted me. There is no prison sentence long enough to undo the damage," she said.

A tentative new trial date has been set, with jury selection estimated to begin on November 12.
