The husband of a US teacher who was found guilty of having sexual relations with a school boy, has decided to stay with his wife.
McKenna Kindred made headlines for all the wrong reasons after being arrested in April 2023 on charges of first-degree sexual misconduct and inappropriate communication with a minor.
She would plead guilty to both charges, as McKenna, 27, admitted to sneaking the boy into the apartment, which she shared with her husband in Spokane, Washington.
The teacher was not handed jail time, but was made to register as a sex offender for ten years, as well as serving a year of probation and a two-year suspended sentence.
When the public discovered that she was married, they were even more appalled by her actions, expecting the relationship to break down.
But this didn't happen.
Instead of leaving his wife, Kyle decided to stay with McKenna and continue living together as a married couple, despite her having a teenage boy in their bed, while he was out of town on hunting trips.
The relationship, which began with flirtatious online exchanges, escalated into a shocking sexual encounter at Kindred's home, leading to a criminal investigation and severe legal consequences for the teacher.
Court documents revealed that the couple were living in an apartment in Liberty Lake, outside Spokane, a 13-minute drive from her job at Central Valley High School.
But by the time of the teacher's sentencing, the home was listed as the property of Kyle's parents, in Mica, a village just south of Spokane.
The couple was staying at the $1 million property, but according to the Daily Mail, they have since moved to Idaho, where they bought a house together, costing $498,000 in June 2024.
The inappropriate relationship between McKenna Kindred and the unnamed student began in June 2022, when the teenager found McKenna's Instagram account, per the New York Post.
What started as harmless texts soon escalated into sexually explicit text messages, photos, and videos.
In one exchange, the teacher sent the teen a message reading: “I was sad when you had to leave my room… when other girls talk about you in my class I could feel myself getting mad."
Kindred, who was 25 at the time, also confessed to the student: “I really like being touched by you.”
The teenager reciprocated with a message that said: “I'm glad I can satisfy you,” to which Kindred allegedly responded by liking the message.
The boy went further, asking if she had used a sex toy while thinking about him.
In the most shocking message exchanged between the pair, Kindred confirmed, writing: “I did,” and even went on to joke about it with him, suggesting: “Hm next time I need to relearn Snapchat haha.”
As the explicit messages continued, Kindred and the student arranged for an in-person encounter.
This meeting took place in November 2022, when Kindred’s husband, lawyer Kyle Kindred, was away on a hunting trip, per the Daily Mail.
According to the teen’s testimony, he arrived at her home between 6:30 and 7:00PM on the evening of the encounter.
They began by watching a movie and kissing, before moving to Kindred's bedroom, where they continued until around 10:00PM.
The pair then "hung out" in the living room and later took a shower together before the teenager left around 11:30PM.
Despite the age difference, Washington state law allows for consensual sexual activity for individuals aged 16 or older.
But the law also prohibits authority figures, such as teachers, from engaging in sexual activity with students under 18.
The boy’s mother, Ashley Beckley, would play a key role in the investigation when she discovered explicit photos and videos exchanged between her son and his teacher.
According to reports, the images included Kindred sending the boy pictures of her breasts, along with texts discussing sex toys.
