Today marks the 81st birthday of the current President of the United States, Joe Biden.
Since being sworn into office back on January 20, 2021, Biden broke records as the oldest POTUS in history.
Biden was 78 years old at the time of his Inauguration Day - overtaking the former oldest president in history, Ronald Reagan, who was 77 at the end of his second term.
And November 20 marks President Biden's 81st birthday. And despite many people taking to social media to wish Biden a happy birthday, others have instead questioned whether there should be an age limit on the presidency. After all, some states require people over the age of 70 to retake driving tests - and yet, the most powerful job in the world is still up for grabs.
"There really needs to be an age limit for presidents, past the age of 60 cognitive function decreases quite drastically, can we stop electing old people to run entire countries," one person tweeted.
A second added: "There should be and age limit of 60 years old when it comes to political positions like president or prime minister!"
"Should have been an Age Limit. 70 should be the last age one can run for President. Period," a third person wrote.
"Biden being 81 is insane why would you wanna be president at 81," a fourth tweeted. "This is why it should be a age limit on being president!!!"
Biden's age has long been a target for many of his critics. Each time he's been seen falling over or fumbling his words, many of his opponents will question if he's physically or mentally fit enough to be in the Oval Office.
However, considering the next presidential election is in 2024, it would mean that Donald Trump will take the title of oldest president in history if elected.
Additionally, no matter who is elected next year, both would be well into their 80s by the time their term comes to an end.
Over the weekend, Florida Gov. and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis spoke with CNN's Jake Tapper, who asked whether or not age is a factor in the next election. DeSantis responded by saying that the presidency is "not a job for somebody that is pushing 80".
And last month, Trump was asked by Megyn Kelly in an interview on her eponymous Sirius XM if Biden was too old to be president, to which, he replied: "Age is interesting because some people are very sharp and some people do lose it, but you lose it at 40 and 50 also [...] But no, he’s not too old at all. He’s grossly incompetent."
