Karoline Leavitt reveals shock first job since leaving role as White House press secretary
After leaving her role as White House press secretary in August, Karoline Leavitt has announced her new job, and it is not in Donald Trump’s administration.
Earlier today, October 5, Leavitt and Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott announced that the former press secretary will join Fox News as a contributor on November 1.
Leavitt will become a news anchor and contributor
In a statement, the 29-year-old mom-of-two said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue appearing on FOX News Channel as an official member of the extraordinary team at FOX News Media.
“I look forward to bringing my unique perspective from my experience as White House Press Secretary, along with the same energy and candor that defined my tenure, to Fox’s millions of viewers across their many platforms.”
Leavitt’s soon-to-be co-host Scott added that her “firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” which will help provide the network’s “audience with authentic and sharp insight.”
Despite being the youngest person in US history to work as the White House press secretary, Leavitt publicly claimed that she left the high-profile role to spend more time with her young family.
The press secretary quit to spend more time with her children
On August 12, Trump announced his right-hand woman’s departure in a Truth Social post, claiming she resigned so that “she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family.”
The octogenarian president added: “A decision I totally understand and respect!”
Shortly after Leavitt’s departure, Trump said she would remain one of his “top outside advisors” and an “influential voice within the Republican Party.”
Leavitt, the only White House Press Secretary to work while pregnant, had a notably close relationship with the President and previously worked in the press office during Trump’s first term before working as a spokesperson during his 2024 campaign.
The former White House official has faced serious scrutiny online over the 32-year age gap in her relationship with her 60-year-old husband, Nicholas Riccio.
In a previous interview about her widely spoken-about but seldom seen husband, Leavitt addressed why Riccio skipped her first baby shower in 2024, defending her husband’s tendency to keep a low profile online.
She told journalist Megyn Kelly: "He's not on social media. He's very private, and he's an extremely hands-on father. He and my son are the best of friends.”
