Reality television personality Kim Zolciak was seen behind the wheel of her black Range Rover in Alpharetta, Georgia, marking her first public outing since the arrest of her 15-year-old son, Kroy "KJ" Biermann Jr, according to reports.
The teenage son of Zolciak and her estranged husband, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, was taken into police custody following serious criminal allegations.
KJ was arrested in Alpharetta in connection with accusations of felony aggravated sodomy and felony aggravated sexual battery. The charges stem from an incident reported to have occurred on April 23 at a local fitness center, where a female classmate accused the teenager of assaulting her inside a changing room leading to a co-ed sauna.
Court documents state that an officer was dispatched to North Fulton Hospital on April 24, where the alleged victim was examined. Official reports indicate that no evidence of male DNA was found in her mouth or vagina, though police opened a full investigation that ultimately led to the teenager being held without bond at the Juvenile Court of Fulton County.
Following the arrest, Zolciak publicly defended her son and strongly disputed the criminal charges. She released a statement maintaining his innocence and pointing directly to the forensic findings from the medical examination.
"The allegations being made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling. He categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged," Zolciak said in a statement. "My son voluntarily took a polygraph examination regarding these allegations and passed. Additionally, an examination was conducted, and no DNA belonging to my son was found."
Defense attorney Jason Sheffield also issued a statement regarding the ongoing legal matter, echoing the family's stance and confirming the defense team's plans to fight the charges.
"My client is 100% innocent and tried to present evidence to the arresting officer, including a passed Polygraph by a notable and respected sex offender Polygrapher," Sheffield stated. "The fact that he’s been arrested and is being held without Bond is a tragedy. He is not only presumed innocent, but is in fact, innocent."
The arrest comes during a turbulent period for the family, as Zolciak and Biermann have been involved in an ongoing custody dispute since their split. Biermann was granted primary physical custody of their four minor children in June, while both parents continue to share joint legal custody.
Biermann was also seen out in public over the weekend, picking up his 14-year-old son Kash from football practice while retrieving KJ's athletic jersey. The former linebacker has not issued a public statement regarding his son's arrest.
KJ remains held without bond, and a court hearing for the case is scheduled for September 1.
