Last night, the White House released a video showing President Donald Trump giving a statement to the people of the United States from his presidential suite at the Walter Reed Medical Center.

However, one moment, in particular, has left people convinced that the video message has been edited in order to remove footage showing Trump coughing.

The moment in question occurs approximately one minute into the video, as the POTUS discusses the treatment he is receiving following his positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

Check out the moment in the video below (Trump's full address is further down):

"We're going to beat this coronavirus, or whatever you want to call it, and we're going to beat it soundly," the President said.

"If you look at the therapeutics which I'm taking right now, some of them, and others are coming out soon, that are looking like... frankly, they're miracles. If you want to know the truth. They're miracles."

However, just after the 74-year-old says the word "therapeutics", he appears to convulse his shoulders and purse his lips.

This has led to many people on social media being convinced that the footage was edited - most likely to remove President Trump's coughing.

Best selling author Don Winslow took to Twitter to ask: "Why was the video of @realDonaldTrump released today edited?

"No conspiracy theory BS here. It's a fact. Watch at 1:04 for example. Was it edited to remove coughs, heavy breathing?"

In addition, Chris Evans, host of The Wine Therapy podcast, tweeted: "Trump coughed here after the word 'therapeutics' and it was edited out using the morph cut feature in @AdobePremiereCC."

Writer Christopher Orr agreed, tweeting: "Clearly a cut here. Hard to imagine any rationale other than persuading the American public that he is healthier than he actually is."

In his video message, Trump thanked the medical professionals at the center and says that he thinks he will "be back soon".

In addition, the President took the opportunity to explain his reasoning behind his recent public appearances, stating:

"I had no choice because I just didn't want to stay in the White House. I was given that offer - to stay in the White House, lock yourself in, don't ever leave, don't even go to the Oval Office, just stay upstairs and enjoy it, don't see people, don't talk to people, and just be done with it.

"I can't do that. I had to be out front.

"This is America, this is the United States, this is the greatest country in the world, this is the most powerful country in the world - I can't be locked up in a room upstairs and totally safe and just say 'hey, whatever happens, happens'. I can't do that.

"We have to confront problems, as a leader, you have to confront problems. There's never been a great leader that would have done that."

Trump then stated that First Lady Melania is also doing well and handling her positive coronavirus diagnosis "very nicely".

The President also joked: "As you've probably read, she's slightly younger than me, just a little bit."
