A man who says he used to play Peter Pan at Disney World has claimed he was fired after breaking character in front of the woman who has spent the last decade documenting her obsession with the character on TikTok.
Toni, who posts as @babytoni99, has gone viral in the past week after years of videos showing her visiting Disneyland to interact with the actors playing Peter Pan.
She brings gifts. She takes photos. She chats with them. She has done this with multiple different actors across more than 10 years and reportedly visits the park at least once a week.
Some people find the content sweet. Others have called it uncomfortable, obsessive, and 'stalking'. The debate has taken over TikTok.
Now a former cast member has weighed in with his own experience.
Ryan, who posts on TikTok as @itsrayanspam, says he previously worked at Disney World and played Peter Pan. In a video responding to the viral coverage, he said he has already met Toni in the park.
"I used to work for Disney World, and I used to play Peter Pan's character," he said.
"I'm seeing the video about the new Peter Pan and the fact that she's doing it for, like, 10 years. I've already met her in the park."
He explained that actors at Disney are contractually required to stay in character at all times while working. Breaking character is a fireable offence.
That, he says, is exactly what happened to him.
"I was fired from Disney World because I just broke character with that girl. It became, like, so annoying. I was like, okay, girl, okay. Let me show you who Peter Pan really is inside."
He said the experience of being followed around the park by the same person over and over was too much to maintain the act through.
"When someone's following you for, like, the past 10 years. And I'm just getting paid and you're following me all across the park. No, no."
Toni's TikTok account goes back years.
The earliest clips show her meeting Peter Pan as a teenager.
The most recent are from this summer. Across all of them, the pattern is the same: she arrives at Disneyland, finds whoever is playing Peter Pan that day, and films herself interacting with them.
Some of the videos are playful and the actors seem to enjoy the interaction.
In others, the body language is less clear. Several clips have been picked apart online by viewers who think the actors look uncomfortable but are unable to say anything because they are contractually required to stay in character.
That is the tension at the heart of the whole thing.
Disney actors cannot tell a guest to leave them alone. They cannot drop the act. They cannot say they find someone's behaviour too much. If someone comes back every week for 10 years, the actor has to keep smiling and playing along.
The debate has split into two camps and neither is budging.
One side says Toni is harmless, that she clearly loves the character, and that everyone at the park knows what Disney is.
It is a place built on the idea that fictional characters are real. Engaging with that is the whole point.
The other side says there is a line between enjoying a theme park and returning to it every week for a decade to build a one-sided relationship with a rotating cast of employees who cannot tell you to stop.
UK influencer GK Barry was criticised after weighing in with what some felt was a dismissive take on the 'Disney adult' debate.
A separate Disneyland influencer has since claimed that Toni 'knows' the current actor playing Peter Pan outside the park, which would add another layer to the story entirely.
That has not been confirmed.
The Tab has contacted Disney for comment. Toni continues to post her Disney content.
Ryan, for his part, has teased more stories from his time working at the park.
"I have some other really juicy story times about me working at Disney World," he said.
"So if you wanna get more, just tell me."
