Tragedy has once again struck the crew of Alec Baldwin's Rust, as a production worker faces losing his arm after being bitten by a spider on set.

As reported by the New York Post, lamp operator and pipe rigger Jason Miller was bitten by a venomous brown recluse spider while helping to close down production on the movie.

Filming has currently wrapped following the death of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on October 21. Hutchins died after being fatally shot on the set of the Western, after actor Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm.

According to Sky News, a Justgiving page has been set up for Miller reportedly states: "He has been hospitalized and endured multiple surgeries each day as doctors do their best to stop the infection and try to save his arm from amputation.

"It will be a very long road to recovery for Jason if the medical team is able to save his arm.

"If under worse circumstances he loses his arm, this is a life-changing and devastating event for Jason and his family."

In response to the incident, a spokesperson for the producers of the movie has told Sky News: "We do not comment on individual members of the cast and crew's private matters."

According to WebMD.com, brown recluse spiders "produce harmful venom that may cause a painful sore at the site of the bite. It may cause even more severe symptoms in some people."

They are native across the "Midwest and the South", and can be found in New Mexico - where Rust was being filmed.

Production on the movie was wrapped following the tragic death of Hutchins.

On October 21, 63-year-old actor Baldwin was handed a functional prop firearm and discharged a round that injured director Joel Souza and fatally wounded the movie's cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Souza suffered a shoulder injury in the incident and was transported to Christus St. Vincent's Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Speaking to paparazzi on last month in Manchester, Vermont, the actor revealed that he could not comment on the investigation, but did tell reporters: "[Hutchins] was my friend, she was my friend.

"The day I arrived in Santa Fe to start shooting, I took her to dinner with Joel [Souza], the director. We were a very, very well-oiled crew shooting a film together, and then this horrible event happened."

Baldwin also revealed that he is in contact with Hutchins' husband and nine-year-old son.

"We are in constant contact with him because we're very worried about his family and his kid," the actor said.
