Sister of Learjet co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras breaks silence after she died in tragic Florida plane crash
The sister of the co-pilot on the doomed Learjet 60 flight, which crashed in Florida, killing everyone on board, has paid tribute to her sibling.
Nathalia Filgueiras, who co-piloted the private jet that plummeted to the ground from 35,000 feet on Sunday, November 1, was just 20 years old, and her sister Giulia Filgueiras has now spoken out publicly.
Co-pilot's sister publicly speaks out
In an emotional post on TikTok, Giulia shared photos of the pair of them over the years, accompanied by a heartbreaking statement, which described her sister as her “eternal love.”
The post read: “My baby, my little sister, my other half, my eternal love… What am I going to do without you now sis.
“I’d do anything to be little and growing up together again. My heart is so torn I lost my whole entire world, may Papai de Ceu hold you so tight.”
Filgueiras had been co-piloting the flight alongside 55-year-old captain Jeff Gregory when their aircraft, carrying a family and two family friends on board, encountered precarious weather conditions.
In chilling audio from the cockpit moments before the crash, Filgueiras can be heard speaking with air traffic controllers, where her Mayday calls were followed by "We're going to crash into the ground, 722 Bravo Delta."
In the background of the distressing call to air traffic control, Gregory can be heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer before the devastating impact eviscerated the aircraft.
Giulia said: “my babygirl my sweet sister my other half I’m so out of loss of words reality feels so distorted I can’t wrap my head around any of this.
“I would protect you till the ends of this earth and forever will defend your name. Your my guardian angel now and that doesn’t feel right to say because you should be here with us.”
Filgueiras had hit headlines when she qualified as a pilot, and had spoken glowingly about the pride she felt just months before the fatal incident, with Giulia paying tribute to her bravery in her address.
The devastating statement in full
“You should be here to see the day you’ll be a aunt, to see the day of your wedding, so many plans you had ahead of you I’m so sorry you were so brave so so brave you’re living proof that women can do it all that we can achieve anything in this world regardless of age regardless of gender you really showed everyone around you how resilient and strong we are as women.
“You didn’t stop fighting and being brave until your last breath I’m sorry sis I’ll see you in my dreams and feel you in my heart until the day I die I’m counting down days now until I’ll see you again #LLN my sweet baby sister.”
