Target has been called out on social media over the store's apparent Black Friday deals.

For many of us, this time of the year is a chance to reunite with family and loved ones and celebrate the holidays. For others, it is a chance to grab a 4K television at a bargain price.

Yes, as has become a modern-day Thanksgiving Weekend tradition over the last few decades, Black Friday now sees swells of shoppers flood to retailers in order to snag premium items at a highly discounted price.

Or, so the retailers will have you believe...

Although Black Friday is supposed to signify a significant drop in prices for things like electronics, furniture, cosmetics, and toys, one TikToker's video has suggested that some stores may not actually be reducing their prices for the day.

The video in question, which has since received more than 200,000 views since being shared on Saturday (November 25), shows TikTok user @djdowneygirl walking around a Target store.

After spotting a Black Friday price tag on a 75" inch Samsung TV - marked at $649.99 - @djdowneygirl then slides the Black Friday price out of the sign holder, only to reveal another 'Sale' tag stating that the TV is priced at $649.99.

The TikToker then moves over to a smaller 65" television that has been marked with a Black Friday sign, this time for $429.99. However, after sliding the Black Friday notice out of the way, another 'Sale' tag can be seen reading - you guess it - $429.99.

"Oh, it's the same," the woman in video can be heard saying, as the man behind the camera asks: "Black Friday deal. That's a deal?" Check out the video below:

And finally, the shoppers then move over to another Samsung TV marked with a Black Friday sign, this time priced at $329.99. After sliding the price tag out of the way once again, the sign underneath read $329.99.

"Bro, that's not a deal," the voice behind the camera can be heard saying.  @djdowneygirl jokingly captioned the video: "#Deals look great this year".

After sharing the videos, social media users quickly took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the matter, with one person commenting: "This is why I stayed in bed relaxing!"

A second added: "That’s why I didn’t go shopping anywhere. It’s been a gimmick for years!"

"You are exposing their secret," another commented, with a fourth writing: "It's to trick us into thinking it's a bargain, don't fall for it".

However, others were quick to defend the store - explaining that, these days, many retailers offer discounted sale prices over the week or month - not just on Black Friday. So, all the store had to do was change the signage for the actual Friday.

"These deals occur at least a month in advance, hence the red tag. When [it's] actually Black Friday, the black tag is posted," one person pointed out.

"Technically, corporations are doing a month-long Black Friday deal. They just change the signage for BF weekend," another person added.

VT has reached out to Target for a comment.

But what do you think? Do you think Black Friday has lost its magic? And should retailers be offering special Black Friday discounted prices actually on Black Friday? Let us know in the comments.
