WW3 fears escalate as Pentagon's 90-day 'doomsday plan' revealed
The Pentagon has been making a 90-day ‘Doomsday Plan’that has prompted fears that World War Three might be on the way.
Of course, those fears were already pretty high, but learning about this isn’t going to help bring them down.
Pentagon making 90-day ‘Doomsday Plan’
We all know that things are pretty bad at the minute from a geopolitical perspective.
Donald Trump is flinging out threats at Norway, Greenland, Iran and basically anyone he takes against these days, while Russia and China are also making big moves.
Then there’s the rise of AI, which is putting everyone’s livelihood at risk, and the impending fear of nuclear war or getting drafted into the armed forces.
So, there’s a lot to be going on with.
But now, it seems as if the Pentagon is putting together plans to keep America in the fight if the worst does happen and the nuclear bombs start getting thrown around.
It’s not exactly called the ‘Doomsday Plan but it might as well be.
Instead, they are calling it FORTRESS.
FORTRESS is the Pentagon’s emergency plan for World War Three
Under the plans, the USA would have portable nuclear reactors, microgrids to keep the lights on, and emergency stashes of fuel and munitions.
It’s not a heartening plan, but it’s one that they clearly feel they need to make.
The idea is that even in the event of the worst catastrophe, the US military bases will still be able to keep going for 90 days, and - crucially - keep fighting.
Even if the civilian infrastructure that the US armed forces relies on is damaged or destroyed, there’ll be some back up plan.
Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell outlined the idea to Fox News: "We don't want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense.
"We just simply can't. It's an intolerable risk.”
There are also plans to adapt any civilian operations to military ones in the event that they are needed.
Parnell continued: "Power is combat now.
"Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures.”
So, if the you-know-what hits the you-know-where, FORTRESS will take over.
Parnell has been behind these plans from the start, and he explained the rationale.
The landscape of modern war has shifted and the Pentagon is recognizing that
I realized that a lot of the way we think about homeland defense was built around the antiquated assumption that two oceans would protect us”, Parnell added.
"President Trump understands that world is gone, and he's already paved the way for new thinking: Golden Dome, a renewed focus on the Western Hemisphere, Greenland, Panama.”
There have already been plans announced to get military bases less dependent on civilian power, but now this new 90-day standard is taking things even further.
So, the plan is to bring the US military away from that, meaning that it can keep fighting for longer and - in theory - run itself during that time on all fronts.
Whether any of this matters in the event of a nuclear war, with multiple nations throwing huge hydrogen bombs around, is anybody’s guess.
Better to be prepared, right?
