A manager at one of Europe's largest legal brothels has revealed the "eight-second" rule that comes into play when customers fall asleep.
Catherine De Noire, who oversees daily operations at the establishment, shared details of the protocol in a series of TikTok videos.
De Noire works the night shift, starting at 7PM, while also studying for a PhD in organizational psychology.

Panic buttons installed in every room
De Noire explained that every private room is fitted with an emergency panic button that workers can activate if they feel unsafe.
"That’s why all rooms are equipped with panic buttons," she wrote.
Workers are trained on how to use the system, allowing them to quietly alert security if a client becomes aggressive, threatening, or makes them uncomfortable.
"The panic button doesn’t make any sound in the room itself," De Noire explained. "That’s deliberate, so the client remains unaware that an alert has been triggered."
When pressed, the alarm sends a signal to the security office, where the room number appears on a monitor so guards know where assistance is needed.
The ‘eight-second rule’
According to De Noire, this is where the "eight-second rule" comes into play.
"We operate under what we call the 'eight-second rule,'" she said. "Once the panic button is activated, security staff must reach the room within eight seconds. This isn’t just a guideline, it’s a strict protocol."
Security staff regularly complete drills and training exercises to respond quickly and find the fastest route to any room.

De Noire said panic button activations are rare, explaining in the comments section that the alarm is not usually triggered because of violence.
"The panic button is never hit more than once or twice a month," she shared. "Most of the time, the panic button is pressed because the time is up, and the customer either doesn’t want to leave or falls asleep so deeply they can’t be woken up."
She added that after nine years working at the venue, she had "never experienced any serious cases of aggression."
Behind the scenes of the business
De Noire, who has gained followers by sharing insights into her work online, said the brothel uses independent contractors, while the business provides space and security.
She also discussed the venue’s daily schedule, explaining that it closes from 6AM to 10AM for cleaning and maintenance of 100 rooms, per New York Post.
The first busy period usually begins around midday, when office workers come during lunch breaks, while another peak occurs between 3PM and 5PM, when some married customers leave work early.
Evening workers begin arriving between 6PM and 8PM, with business usually quieting before picking up again between 1AM and 4AM.
