Givenchy has been accused of "glamorizing suicide" with an "insensitive" necklace that looks like a noose, The Guardian reports.

The necklace was slammed on the Instagram page Diet Prada where it was compared to Burberry's equally insensitive hoodie with a noose, which was showcased at London Fashion Week 2019, CNN reported at the time.

"You'd think the industry would've learned not to put things that resemble nooses around a model's neck after the whole @Burberry noose hoodie debacle in 2019," the account wrote.

"This @givenchyofficial necklace that just came down the runway steers dangerously close to that same territory. Really makes you wonder how no one noticed, but alas… history repeats itself."

Now, Givenchy's necklace has been slammed on Twitter, with one user writing: "Givenchy baby no… Burberry f**ked this up in 2019 and probably not the best time to use a noose as a motif in this day and age."

Burberry later removed the controversial hoodie from its collection after it prompted widespread backlash and apologized in a statement.

"We are deeply sorry for the distress caused by one of the products that featured in our A/W 2019 runway collection," Marco Gobbetti, Burberry chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Though the design was inspired by the marine theme that ran throughout the collection, it was insensitive and we made a mistake," he added.

The hoodie was extensively slammed on social media, with one shocked Twitter user writing: "I wanna know who at Burberry approved this Noose Neck Sweater because WHAT."

The model Liz Kennedy, who was featured in the show, also expressed her concerns about the design on Instagram.

"Suicide is not fashion," Kennedy wrote, per The Guardian. "It is beyond me how you could let a look resembling a noose hanging from a neck out on the runway."

"I had asked to speak to someone about it but the only thing I was told to do was to write a letter."

She went on to say that staff at Burberry were joking about suicide before the hoodie was debuted at the show.

"I had a brief conversation with someone but all that it entailed was 'it's fashion. Nobody cares about what's going on in your personal life so just keep it to yourself,'" she said.

Givenchy has yet to respond to the controversy surrounding the necklace.
