This is the heartwarming moment that a homeless man broke down in tears after a local barbershop gave him an incredible transformation that left him looking like a trendy Spanish hipster.
Jose Antonio was known by the barbershop owner and other locals through his work as an unlicensed car parking attendant - a role that he performed in order to make enough money for food. However, seeing the struggle of the man, the shop owner decided to offer him a dramatic makeover.
Jose walked into the salon with grey unkempt hair and a dirty beard - a result of spending more than 25 years on the streets. But, when he walked out of the salon, he resembled a male model.
The change to his appearance was so drastic that, when he went into a local bar in the area to grab a beer, the bartender didn't even realise it was Jose. Not only this, but the 55-year-old also caught the eye of several women who passed-by as he enjoyed his drink.
Understandably, given its feel-good nature, the video has gone viral online and has received over 2.5 million views.
Jose, a former electrician, ended up homeless after losing his way in life and battling with depression. In the clip, he can be seen sitting at a chair in front of a mirror before his makeover, telling the cameraman: "Leave the doors over the mirror open for the moment so I can see myself for the last time like this.
"Then close them to see if when they open again, it's as if something else really opened up in my life, like a symbol."
When it comes to the big reveal, Jose struggles to keep his emotions in check. Looking at his new reflection, he gasps: "F***, My God, this is incredible, is this me? I'm so different, no-one's going to recognise me unless I tell them who I am." Check it out below.
Once he steps out into society, Jose can be seen rocking a crisp white shirt and red drainpipe trousers. A couple of women stop to compliment his appearance and several locals react with shock after finding out who he is.
Despite his new appearance, Jose, who is now cleanly shaven and rocking grey hair once more, is still looking for work. However, he is much healthier and is off the streets for good. In an interview with Spanish TV, salon owner Salva Garcia revealed that Jose was receiving financial assistance from a company who wished to remain anonymous. "It wasn't just a change of look. It changed my life. What I want now is a proper job."
Graciela Aguero, an Argentinian who saw the video of the transformation after the footage reached South America: "I became so emotional when I saw his smile.
"God wants to change his life just like he does his appearance."
Local Paola Bocardo added: "I'm lost for words. Jose helps me to park my car every day. When we saw him after his makeover we didn't recognise him. He's a wonderful person and the video is amazing."
While the footage is undoubtedly touching, it also shows that, just like you and me, homeless people are still people. If you can help, help.
