A man who posted footage of himself licking ice cream from a tub in a Walmart store and then putting it back in the freezer has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, the NBC affiliate KBMT of Beaumont, Texas, reported on Wednesday.

D'Adrien Anderson, a 24-year-old Texas native, reportedly uploaded the video to Facebook in August last year and was charged with criminal mischief shortly after.

This is the moment D'Adrien Anderson filmed himself licking a tub of ice cream before putting it straight back in the freezer:

Anderson pleaded guilty to the charge, and according to the BBC, was also handed a $1,000 fine, a six-month suspended sentence and was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service. He was also ordered to pay $1,565 to the ice-cream company Blue Bell, which responded to the incident by restocking all the ice cream in the freezer as a precaution.

The punishments were doled out despite the fact that surveillance footage showed Anderson going back into the store to buy the tub when he'd finished filming.

In a similar incident caught on camera, this man slurped soup directly from the ladle at a supermarket salad bar:

"If food is tampered with, or a customer wants to leave the impression that they left behind adulterated product, we will move quickly with law enforcement to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those who think this is a joke," a Walmart representative said in a statement at the time, per Yahoo! News. "It is not."

The 24-year-old was one of a number of people who took part in the ice cream-licking trend on social media in 2019.

Last June, a video went viral of a woman, also from Texas, licking Blue Bell ice cream in a store. It was reported last year by the Independent that she faced up to 20 years in prison.
