A man who is becoming known as Pakistan's Nostradamus has made a chilling prediction for this year.
There's nothing like some conspiracy theories to get your heart pumping, whether the prophecies originate from centuries ago or from the past year.
The likes of Baba Vanga and the 'Living Nostradamus' have mentioned the likelihood of alien contact and World War III this year, and while these haven't fully materialized, it is only August after all.
Now, it seems there's a new clairvoyant figure to look out for, as controversial religious leader Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi has given his two cents on what we can expect in 2026.
Shahi was born in Pakistan and is best known for founding the spiritual group RAGS International, which is now known as the Messiah Foundation International (MFI).
His views are so controversial, in fact, that his books and teachings are banned in the South Asian country, and his followers are forbidden to meet up.
Shahi has prophesied that a comet or an asteroid will crash into Earth this year, as reported by WION, and that it will end all life on our planet.
According to India.com, he made several claims over the years, including one in a 2000 book titled, 'The Religion of God'.
His claim about an asteroid or comet hitting Earth this year is actually one of his biggest predictions.
Shahi said that the comet will cause "total destruction," though it would be on a smaller scale, as he says that God will only try to intimidate humans.
Unsurprisingly, Islamic scholars have rejected his prophecy claims, which have also been condemned as blasphemy by numerous figures in the community.
They also dismiss his claims and have called him out for claiming that he is a prophet.
His group, MFI, says that Shahi claims to be the Mahdi, Messiah, and Kalki Avatar, who are all figures believed to have arrived on Earth during the end of times to eradicate evil.
A year after publishing 'The Religion of God', Shahi mysteriously went missing in London, England, in September 2001.
There's been no sign of the alleged prophet since then, though he still boasts many followers who claim he is alive and living in secrecy.
If he is still alive, he would be 84 today.
NASA and other major space agencies have not indicated there to be an asteroid risk anywhere in the near future.
The only asteroid that held somewhat of a threat was Apophis in 2029, but the US space agency explained that its trajectory will not bring it near our planet.
Apart from that, there is also the near-Earth asteroid called 2024 YR4, which was initially deemed a threat for 2032.
It may be too soon to tell, but the asteroid only has a chance of hitting the Moon, though the likelihood isn't too big.
