A woman has now been charged with manslaughter over the death of Kim Kardashian lookalike Christina Ashten Gourkani after giving her a cosmetic procedure that allegedly led to her death.

According to multiple reports, Vivian Alexandra Gomez was arrested at Fort Lauderdale Airport on April 20 after a botched butt-lift procedure led to the death of the OnlyFans model who bared an uncanny resemblance to 42-year-old socialite Kim Kardashian.

Gourkani, 34, died of cardiac arrest in a California hospital after paying Gomez to help her with a risky body enhancement even though she did not have a license to practice medicine.

The 50-year-old has now been charged with involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license, both felonies as per a New York Post report.

While reports in the case have been sealed by a judge without any further details, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe told the local Daily Post that Gomez traveled to a Burlingame hotel and gave Gourkani "several injections" of what is believed to have been "just silicone" on April 19, a day before her death.

Wagstaffe also added that there is still an ongoing investigation into the sudden death including a more detailed toxicology report.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Dr. Michael K. Obeng, a board-certified plastic surgeon said that most illegal injections are "made with silicone."

"Most of these illegal injections are made with silicone, and silicone or any foreign substance can migrate within the body, which can lead to infection and hardness over time, deforming parts of the body," Obeng told the outlet.

"And as with any injection, it can go into your bloodstream," he says. "And if it gets in the bloodstream, it can block the blood vessels and cause necrosis [or dead tissue]. So that's a huge danger."

A GoFundMe page was created for the late social media star, though donations were abruptly halted at around $6,600.

In the description, Gourkani's heartbroken family described the impact the loss of their loved one has had on them.

"In the early morning hours at approximately 4:31am on 4/20/2023 our family received a tragic phone call from a family member who was frantically screaming and crying histaricaly on the other end of the line....Ashten is dying...Ashten is dying...A phone call that instantly shattered our world and will forever haunt our family for the rest of our lives," they wrote.

"After arriving at the hospital shortly after the phone call our family continued living a nightmare as we were informed that her health and wellbeing had continued to decline in a downward spiral for the worse after suffering from a cardiac arrest," they continued. "Her sudden and tragic passing is currently being investigated as a homicide related to medical procedure that took a turn for the worse.

"For the privacy of Christina Ashten, our family and the investigation no other details will be shared at this time," they added.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gourkani's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
