A British woman has been found dead in a luxury hotel room after allegedly engaging in a "sex game gone wrong", her boyfriend allegedly told police.

22-Year-old Anna Florence Reed was found in the bathroom in one of the rooms at Ramada La Palma au Lac in Lorcana, Switzerland - which reportedly sets guests back around £200 a day - with other guests reporting shouting occurring from inside the room.

Swiss newspaper Corriere del Ticino reports that Reed's 29-year-old boyfriend, believed to be from Germany but living in Zurich, was taken into custody after Reed was found unresponsive early on Tuesday morning. She reportedly checking into the hotel the day before.

With Reed reportedly having cuts and fractures all over her body, prosecutor Petra Canonica Alexakis says that investigators are considering a charge of murder or culpable homicide for the boyfriend. However, the man says that the couple were simply playing a sex game that went wrong.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Foreign Office spoke to MirrorOnline: "Our consular staff are assisting the family of a British woman following her death in Switzerland and are in contact with the Swiss and UK police."

They also reported that an autopsy was carried out on Reed, and that her cause of death was officially suffocation or asphyxiation.
