A bride was escorted out of her own wedding in handcuffs after she reportedly physically attacked her own mother.
According to police, the incident happened during the unnamed 42-year-old woman's wedding, when things took a violent turn.
Polish police revealed that the woman was handcuffed and taken to jail while still wearing her wedding dress after attacking her mom during a drunken argument at the reception on May 8.
The wedding reception was taking place in an apartment in Suwalki, around 18 miles southwest of the Lithuanian border, when a heated verbal argument came to blows.
Suwalki police said in a press release: "Suwałki police officers exercised their powers under the Anti-Violence Act and detained a troubled bride. She was taken to a police cell in her wedding dress."
They added: "During the brawl, the 42-year-old bride repeatedly struck her and knocked her mother to the floor.
"Officers detained the aggressive woman, who posed a direct threat to her mother. A sobriety test revealed the bride had a blood alcohol content of nearly 1.5 per mille, and her mother was transferred to the emergency medical services."
They added that the bride was issued with a restraining order banning her from contacting her mother for the following 14 days.
It is not currently known what sparked the altercation between the pair.
The police department also shared an image of the bride being escorted to the station by an officer, while wearing her flowing white wedding dress under a jacket, with her hands cuffed behind her back.
According to police, tests showed the bride had a blood alcohol level of 0.15% or 1.5 per mille, almost eight times the legal limit in Poland, per the New York Post.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing to determine the bride's "scope of responsibility".
