Today (January 3) marks Greta Thunberg's 18th birthday, and she's vowed to never buy new clothes again.

To mark her birthday, the climate change activist spoke to the UK's Sunday Times magazine about her future.

During the interview, Thunberg revealed that she will never purchase brand new clothes again, and instead chooses to borrow garments from friends.

She told the publication: "I don't need new clothes. I know people who have clothes, so I would ask them if I could borrow them or if they have something they don't need anymore.

"The worst-case scenario, I guess I'll buy second-hand."

However, despite opening up about the changes she has made in her own life, the teenager said that she will not be judging others who live differently from her.

When asked for her thoughts on celebrities who speak out against climate change but then take jets to fly all over the world, Thunberg said: "I don’t care.

"I’m not telling anyone else what to do, but there is a risk when you are vocal about these things and don’t practice as you preach, then you will become criticized for that and what you are saying won’t be taken seriously."

Revealing that she is also a vegan, Thunberg then added that she does not feel like she is missing out when compared to other teenagers. "I don’t need to fly to Thailand to be happy. I don’t need to buy clothes I don’t need, so I don’t see it as a sacrifice," she told The Sunday Times.

A little over a year ago, President Trump hit out at the teenager on Twitter in response to her being named Time's Person of the Year.

Responding to the magazine's cover photo, Trump wrote: "So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!"

However, Greta has now revealed that she doesn't "sit and speculate about how the future might turn out", telling the publication: "I see no use in doing that.

"As long as you are doing everything you can now, you can’t let yourself become depressed or anxious."

Wise words. Happy birthday, Greta!
