Head of murdered Italian model stolen from coffin months after she was buried in shocking desecretion
The body of Italian model and entrepreneur Pamela Genini has been desecrated, as cemetery workers found that her head had been removed from her coffin months after her tragic murder.
According to Yahoo, the disturbing discovery was made last week while her remains were being transferred to their final resting place in a cemetery in the province of Bergamo.
Tragic Death of Genini
The 29-year-old, who appeared on the Italian reality dating show The Island of Adam and Eve, was fatally stabbed 24 times on her balcony in Milan in October of the previous year, PEOPLE reported.
It is alleged that her ex-boyfriend, 52-year-old Gianluca Soncin, killed her after months of stalking and attempting to reconcile following their breakup.
Italian newspapers have reported that a second ex-partner of Genini, who had been on the phone with her at the time during the brutal attack, told police that the model had been trying to break free from Soncin's controlling grasp.
After Genini was murdered and authorities arrived at the scene, Soncin allegedly attempted to take his own life by stabbing himself in the throat twice, though his injuries were not life-threatening.
The Shocking Desecration of Genini's Body
Months after the model’s tragic death, workers at the Strozza cemetery noticed that Genini’s coffin would not close properly.
Upon inspection, they found that her head had been severed and removed from her body, which had otherwise remained undisturbed since her burial.
Law enforcement has confirmed that three to four suspects are being investigated for the theft and desecration of Genini's remains, an offense which carries a seven-year jail sentence.
Authorities are continuing their investigations into the theft of her head and have not released further details at this time.
The late reality TV star modeled in high-fashion campaigns in Milan, co-founded the swimwear brand SheLux, and ran a luxury real estate business.
Her relationship with her ex, who was a wealthy and well-connected Italian businessman according to the New York Post, had reportedly been strained in the months leading up to her death.
Per reports, Soncin had allegedly stalked Genini after the breakup. He used a key that he had copied weeks prior to force his way into her apartment, where the deadly assault took place.
The fatal stabbing left her with wounds to the neck, back, chest, and limbs.
Our thoughts are with Genini's loved ones at this time.
