A pair of identical twins have gone viral after delivering what’s being dubbed the “greatest news interview of all time” — while speaking in complete unison about a deadly carjacking that unfolded right outside their home.
On April 23, sisters Bridgette and Paula Powers witnessed a terrifying road accident on Steve Irwin Way in Australia’s Sunshine Coast.
A carjacked SUV had flipped over, and the alleged driver — reportedly armed — emerged from the wreckage, leading to chaos that ended with the man facing 15 charges, including dangerous driving causing death while intoxicated, according to 9News.
But it wasn’t just the gravity of the story that stunned viewers. It was how the sisters told it — completely in sync, down to their tone, pauses, and delivery.
“Well we were cleaning our birds and we heard this big bang, and we said, ‘oh no, not another car accident’, so we drop everything and we went running out the front we see mom running out from the house up there [points] and then other cars were pulling up and checking to see if the person was okay," they recalled.
Their calm turned to chaos in seconds.
“One guy he was up there with our mom and he went up there and he was coming back down towards us and he goes, ‘run! He’s got a gun’, and ahhh, our hearts started to pound.”

As they rushed to safety, the sisters were gripped with panic for their mother.
“I said, ‘well Mom, where’s Mom?’, and poor mom was stuck up there but apparently our brave mom she goes, ‘are you alright?’, because he had all blood over his face and he goes, ‘I’ll shoot you’, and she goes, ‘hey! I’m here to help’.”
The drama didn’t stop there.
“Mom distracted him to make him look the other way and he looked the other way and mom ran into the bush behind the fence and the guys goes to her, ‘I’ll find you and I’ll shoot you’.”
“All I was thinking about when we were running was, ‘I hope she doesn’t fire!’ Yeah, we were so blessed.”
The clip of their 7News interview quickly exploded online. Viewers were captivated not just by the story — but by the duo’s eerie harmony.
Social media couldn’t get enough. One X (formerly Twitter) user declared: “This is hands down a top 5 interview of all time.”
Another joked: “The simulation has glitched again.” A third quipped: “It’s like a teams meeting when you’re sitting next to the person talking and hearing them through your headset at the same time.”
And then came the ultimate praise: “The greatest news interview of all time.”

But for Bridgette and Paula, speaking in sync is nothing new.
In a follow-up with The Project, the 51-year-old twins said they’ve always talked this way, they told Daily Mail Australia. “It just happens and we don’t know why. But we have tried to talk separately but it’s we’re not ourselves. It’s not us.”
They admitted it’s “very hard” to do otherwise — and they’ve learned to ignore the backlash.
“We didn’t care about the critics,” they said. “Whoever can’t stand listening to them should simply switch off their TV.”
And their newfound fame isn’t going to waste. Bridgette and Paula — who run Twinnies Pelican Seabird Rescue, a 24/7 seabird rehabilitation center on Steve Irwin Way — have launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $30,000 for their rescue efforts.
“It is a costly passion [but] we just love looking after the seabirds and water birds,” Bridgette told Daily Mail Australia. “We love it because they need our help because there’s hardly anyone who cares for them on a big scale.”
Their facility — described by the sisters as a “very old building” that’s “forever being patched up” — needs money for fish, electricity, and upkeep.
Bridgette and Paula, 47, have been speaking in unison “since day dot.” They even wear matching outfits and have reportedly developed their own twin language.
As kids, they were mentored by the late wildlife icon Steve Irwin — a fitting origin for two women who’ve dedicated their lives to rescuing birds, baffling critics, and unintentionally becoming the internet’s favorite duo.
And I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we need to protect these two sisters at all costs.
