April's Pink Supermoon lit up the night's sky last night - with photographers around the globe capturing some breathtaking shots.
In the US, perhaps the most iconic shot was captured in New York City, as photographer John Angelillo captured the supermoon creating a celestial halo around the iconic Statue of Liberty.
In the United States, the Pink Supermoon was at its brightest at 11:32PM (ET), according to NASA.

EarthSky reports that April's Pink Supermoon is the second-closest the moon will be to the Earth all year.
And, as I'm sure you've already noticed, despite being called a "pink" supermoon, it's not actually a different color from how you're used to seeing the celestial body.

Rather, the moon is named after the Phlox subulata plant, which is also known as the "moss pink", and is native to North America.
The Western Washington University Planetarium reports that Native American tribes all have their own names for the moon and many are associated with spring.

Other names for the supermoon include the "kawohni" or "flower moon," as it is known by the Cherokee tribe of the East Coast, as well as the "tasahcee-rakko" or "big spring moon", which it is called by the Creek tribe of the Southeast.

Around the world, people were delighted to see April's Pink Supermoon light up the night's sky, with breathtaking shots being captured all over the globe, such as the image of the moon rising behind the Glastonbury Tor above.
And below, you can see the Supermoon rising behind The Arch on the Cambrian mountains in Wales:

Below, the Pink Supermoon can be seen rising above the Hunting lodge Humprecht in Sobotka, Czech Republic:

The next supermoon will take to the skies in May 2021, and per The Old Farmer's Almanac, here are each of the remaining full moons for the rest of the year, and their respective names:
April 26 - Pink moon
May 26 - Flower moon
June 24 - Strawberry moon
July 23 - Buck moon
August 22 - Sturgeon moon
September 20 - Harvest moon
October 20 - Hunter's moon
November 19 - Beaver moon
December 18 - Cold moon
I'm definitely investing in a telescope and camera after these stunning shots!
