A portrait of Prince George has gone viral, with the heir apparent posing for a school picture on his first day at Eton College – his new secondary school.
The picture left Royalists excited over one particular aspect of the photo, with George being enrolled in the same school his father attended three decades ago.
The 13-year-old son of Prince William and Kate Middleton joined the prestigious educational institution on Tuesday.
His smart portraits were posted to social media via Kensington Palace shortly after, displaying George proudly smiling in his new uniform, which is made up of a black tailcoat, waistcoat, stiff white collar, and pinstriped trousers.
The teen prince will likely undertake both his GCSE and A-Level examinations at the UK’s most pre-eminent private school, which costs an astonishing £63,299 per year, translating to roughly $85,794.
Yet, it wasn’t the staggering yearly fees involved that had people talking, but rather George’s striking resemblance to his father when he was around the same age.
One user took the opportunity to post the portraits of George and William side by side, writing: “Like father, like son! Prince William and Prince George on their first day at Eton College almost 30 years apart.”
Another user commented: “Father and Son in their Eton uniform,” before a third echoed the comparison: “Like father, like son! The resemblance is incredible, even nearly 30 years apart.”
And a fourth added: “They really look alike actually. The only difference is the eye color.”
The prince joins his father and uncle, Prince Harry, in attending the school, after they were both pupils between 1995-2001, and 1998-2003, respectively.
The heir apparent was dropped off by his mother and father, and was greeted by Eton’s head master Simon Henderson, who said: “Welcome, good luck, enjoy it.”
The educational institution has 25 boarding houses, with each housing 55 pupils starting from the age of 13 going through to the age of 18, all of which are looked after by residential staff.
