A woman has made history in Brazil after welcoming a giant baby that measured 2ft tall and weighing over 16lbs - the biggest baby her state had ever seen.
As reported by The Mirror, the wonderful news was shared on social media by officials from the Hospital Padre Colombo, who revealed that 27-year-old mom Cleidiane Santos dos Santos has welcomed her new baby boy via C-section on Wednesday (January 18) in Parintins, Amazonas State.
Named Angerson Santos, the big bubba was welcomed to the world weighing an impressive 16.1lbs and measuring 1.9357ft tall.
This broke the state record for the biggest baby to be born, which previously stood at 13lbs and 1.8ft tall.
This means that Angerson weighs more than twice as much as the average newborn, with the CDC reporting that the average weight for a newborn boy is 7lbs and 6ozs.
Not-so-little Angerson was delivered via C-section after doctors determined that he would be far too big for mom Cleidiane to carry him to full term.
Following his birth, the hospital revealed that Angerson had been placed in an incubator, but was in a stable condition and showing no abnormalities.
However, in what is certainly an inconvenience, all the clothes Angerson's mom and dad had bought for him don't fit - as he's already twice the size of the average newborn baby.
Therefore, staff at the Hospital Padre Colombo have launched a fundraiser in order to help out his parents with all the essentials. Additionally, the hospital is accepting kind donations from locals, such as extra-large diapers and clothes for babies aged 9-12 months.
Amazingly, despite his impressive size, Angerson is still nowhere near the world record for the heaviest baby to ever be born.
The Guinness World Records reports that the heaviest baby to ever be born was a boy who was born to a healthy mom in Aversa, Italy, way back in 1955. In that instance, the baby tipped the scales at an unbelievable 22lbs and 8ozs!
Congratulations to the family!
