Have you ever been curious about what the "i" means when it comes to Apple products?

The iPhone absolutely revolutionised the game when it was first released in 2007, and now it seems like everyone has one.

There are of course other smart phones out there that arguably do some things better than Apple - but the iPhone appears to reign supreme.

I'll be honest - I've completely lost track of what iPhone we're on now because there seems to be a new one every month.

But since it's become such a common thing in our lives, we don't seem to give the iPhone a second thought.

But if you have a think for a second - do you know what the "i" stands for?

Theories have abounded over the years.

Some pointed to Apple’s logo as a clue, wondering if it referenced the biblical tale of Adam and Eve or the apple that famously inspired Isaac Newton’s discovery of gravity.

However, the logo’s designer, Rob Janoff, dismissed these ideas as “wonderful urban legends”.

Similarly, the “i” has invited a flurry of interpretations.

Social media users have suggested it stands for words like “intelligent” or “indispensable,” while others believed it simply represents “my phone.”

Fortunately, Steve Jobs shed light on the mystery back in 1998, during the launch of the iMac.

According to Reader’s Digest, Jobs explained that the “i” represented five key concepts: “internet, individual, instruct, inform, and inspire.”

He also clarified that the “i” didn’t have a strictly official meaning. It could be interpreted as a personal pronoun, highlighting the device’s role as a highly individualized tool, or even as “instruction,” a nod to Apple’s goal of educating its users and employees.

There have been many videos on the subject, and people have left their thoughts in the comments.

One person wrote: "I was today years old when I realized I’m using an individual Instruct inform and inspire phone 13pro max.“

Another wrote: “I guess you could say, ‘i’ didn’t know this before,” while a third joked: “This is what I wondered last night when I was trying to sleep.”

So be honest - did you know what the "i" stood for?
