Since it's pretty much the most popular show on the planet, it's hard to imagine that
Game of Thrones wasn't always a guaranteed hit. Plenty of fantasy shows have come and gone over the years, even those based on popular book series. So no one was certain that HBO could pull it off at all, no doubt pleasantly surprised when it became
watched by millions across the world.
Seeing it now, the cast look perfect for their roles - but not all of them were the first choice, regardless of how great they ended up being. There was an unseen pilot with different actors that was reportedly completely re-shot with a new cast for reasons of quality. But how would the characters we know and love look like if the original actor had stayed in the role?

While I think most of us are pretty happy with how it all turned out in Westeros, it's hard not to wonder what could have been. For instance, how great would it have been for Tormund and Khal Drogo to meet? Unfortunately for us, they never did, but it turns out
the actors behind them have a real-life bromance.
