Is the messiest political breakup of the year already over?

Elon Musk just might be rekindling things with Donald Trump, and their very public "divorce" is looking more like a dramatic situationship with zero boundaries.

It all kicked off (again) when Musk quietly shared a screenshot from Trump’s Truth Social on X, in an apparent show of support for the President’s hot take on the ongoing protests in Los Angeles.

No caption. No context. But the post - where Trump called California Governor Gavin Newsom “Newscum” and slammed both him and LA Mayor Karen Bass over the riots - has racked up hundreds of thousands of likes.

Naturally, everyone took this as the soft launch of Musk and Trump’s reunion tour.

In case you missed it, their beef was turning into one of the most chaotic political fallouts in recent memory. After Elon’s flashy but short-lived role in Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (aka DOGE), the two billionaires started throwing shade like there was no tomorrow.

Trump publicly threatened to slash Elon’s beloved EV mandate, per WWMT-TV. Bloomberg reported that Elon clapped back by saying he’d decommission Tesla’s Dragon spacecrafts, which NASA relies on for missions to the ISS. It was giving “mutual unfollow” energy on a global scale.

Then, of course, there was Musk alleging on X that Trump's name was in the "Epstein Files" and that was why they have not been made public.

Trump responded by saying that the Tesla boss was acting like a man who had "lost his mind" and the White House doubled down on this narrative, describing Musk's tweets as "an unfortunate episode from Elon.”

The POTUS also revealed that he was considering selling the Tesla he bought on the lawn of the White House as a show of support for Musk's envelope-pushing automotive company.

But with Musk’s latest post, it seems like the drama may be cooling down or, more likely, entering a new chapter.

The Internet, of course, lost it.

One X user dragged Musk, writing: “Predictable. It took you less than 48 hours to capitulate, you f***ing coward.”

Another compared it to Seinfeld: “This is like that episode of Seinfeld when George quits and tries to go back the next day and pretend nothing happened."

Still, the real show was the reaction from meme lords and TikTok stans, who have begun to post "Elon x Trump divorce" memes with lightning speed. Cue sad slideshows of Elon and Trump laughing together, walking shoulder to shoulder, all set to BoB’s 'Airplanes' (because, of course).

The phrase “divorce of the century” has even been thrown about, and now people are joking that the breakup lasted shorter than a celebrity PR stunt.

“This is the shortest break-up ever,” one user posted, per The Mirror. “They’re like that toxic couple who blocks each other every other week and then soft-launch their reconciliation with a Story like nothing happened.”

Others suggested it was all smoke and mirrors. “This break-up is so messy that I lowkey think it’s a publicity stunt,” one person speculated. “There’s definitely an endgame here.”

If it was all for show, it wouldn’t be the first time. Musk was reportedly instrumental in pushing digital strategy behind Trump’s successful campaign run, and some political watchers say the entire “falling out” was just a calculated move to distance each other temporarily while tensions were high.

For now, no official "we’re back" statement has been made -- but let’s be real, in this particular bromance, a repost is basically a public kiss on the forehead.
