Chilling new details have emerged about the worker who was found trapped behind a fridge 10 years after going missing.

Back in 2009, Larry Ely Murillo Moncada was reported missing by his mother after he left his parent's home barefoot during a blizzard, as reported by The Mirror.

According to the outlet, the 25-year-old was experiencing hallucinations and abandoned his keys and vehicle.

His mother told reporters that her son, who was on antidepressants, seemed "confused and disorientated" and was "hearing voices that said 'eat sugar,'" per the publication.

The young man's dead body was discovered a decade later after his place of employment, the No Frills supermarket in Council Bluffs, Iowa, had closed down.

Crew workers tasked with clearing out the store uncovered human remains wedged behind one of the refrigerators. DNA testing soon confirmed the remains belonged to Murillo-Moncada.

The shocking discovery meant that the man's body was hidden in the store for seven years while it remained open, and another three years after its closure in 2016.

No signs of foul play were found and his death was ruled to be accidental. It is believed that he accidentally fell into the 18-inch gap between the refrigerator and the wall, becoming trapped.

Sgt Brandon Danielson shared a few comments about the tragedy: "You don't hear about these types of cases, [like] people found in walls, especially in this area. We have missing persons all the time, but this is just unique."

More harrowing details about the heartbreaking missing persons case have emerged online.

One customer reflected on their experience at No Frill supermarket and said that they've always thought the store "smelled like something dead," while another agreed, adding: "We went there once and the smell was so strong back there by the coolers that it made me sick, I had to leave. never went back again," as cited by The Mirror.

A third person said that they shopped at the store "all the time," and that it smelled "horrible," adding: "I even asked the butcher one time if the back area was dirty with dried blood from cutting the meat and he said no, it was really clean. It smelled for a long time!"

A police officer chillingly revealed that the late man's mom always suspected that her son was trapped in the supermarket. "The mother, she kind of had an idea that he had never left the No Frills," he said. "I don't know how she came up with that idea."

Our thoughts continue to be with Murillo Moncada's family and friends.
